SPIN Kodex Certifies Safe Dating Sites

Spin kodex logoW&V – Feb 10 – The Federal Association of the Digital Economy (BVDW) has agreed on rules for dating sites. The "SPIN Kodex" defines clear rules related to cancellations policy, recurring payments and privacy issues. The first companies that have been certified are FriendScout24, Neu.de, eDarling.de, Shopaman.de, secret.de and partner.de. Companies wishing to submit to the SPIN Kodex have to go through an extensive auditing with numerous documentation requirements. This process has to be completed again in two years.

Flirty Chinese Chat App Momo Passes 100M Users

Momo app logoTECHINASIA – Feb 10 – Of that group, 40M use the social discovery app on a monthly basis, and 15M on a daily basis. Momo has doubled its userbase since July. Momo uses location to connect people who are nearby. Users can join hobby and activity groups. The app monetizes by selling stickers and games. The company launched its third game title one month ago, which has since been activated by 1.4M accounts and has generated $1.9M in revenue.

Matchmaking Business Is Not Slowing Down

Club vip life logoNY POST – Feb 9 – Lisa Clampitt is the founder of Club VIP Life, a matchmaking firm, where male clients pay $15K to find the perfect mate. Females can join for free. In 2005, there were 1,2K matchmakers; now there are ~ 3K, according to Clampitt and the industry shows no signs of slowing. Marketdata Enterprises predicts the industry will grow ~5% annually this year and will be $2.54B industry by 2015. Clampitt expanded her business by opening her matchmaking school in 2003. It’s licensed by the state Education Department; however, training is not required to start a matchmaking business.

Men Forgive Emotional Affaires, But Not the Physical Ones

Victoriamilan logoCNBC – Feb 10 – 72% men believe sexual affairs are worse than emotional affairs, while most women (69%) consider emotional cheating the "worst-case scenario," according to a survey by cheaters' website Victoria Milan. 76% of women would forgive their partner for a sexual affair, while only 35% of men would. 30% of women and 80% of men would forgive emotional cheating. ~23% of men and 19% of women cheat on their spouses, according to a 2011 online survey by Indiana University. 27% of divorces around mid-life and beyond were due to cheating.

Baihe logoSCMP – Feb 9 - Baihe´s latest TV commercial features an attractive young woman, who, after years of prodding from her aged grandmother, decides to get married to fulfil her elder relative’s wish. The video clip has apparently enraged many people within China’s online community, where it has been widely shared and commented via various social networks. Many condemned the ad promotes being forced into marriage.

Sugar Daddy Dating Site Is Targeting College Students

Seeking arrangement logoNY POST – Feb 9 – “Prostitution is black and white; it’s just an exchange of sex for money,” says Angela Jacob Bermudo, PR manager for SeekingArrangement, a site where men are shelling out ~$3K a month for a sugar baby. SeekingArrangement actively pursues college-age students. They now account for 44% of total memberships and are the site’s largest demographic. The site claims 58K sugar babies. Those who are seeking straight prostitution are removed from the site.
