OPW – Mar 4 – We have just updated Experian Hitwise USA online dating rankings. POF took over the top spot in March 2009 and has remained there since – until today. Zoosk is now the top dating site in USA, according to Experian, with 15.78% of market share, followed by POF (13.51% of market share) and Match.com (9.63% of market share).

These traffic ranking are based on the number of people who hit the home page, right? So Zoosk has bought more traffic than anyone else or been more effective with their marketing campaigns. Their brand awareness is much lower than Match which is why I don’t believe these numbers at all.
If a million people hit the homepage and only 100,000 click to another page, the company still get’s to use the million visitor number. Weak.
These rankings continue to be awful, but that’s nothing new. The panels and beacons and whatnot that they use for tracking are terrible at tracking real people.
Do these stats contain mobile traffic?

I think Alexa web traffic rankings are more reliable than these numbers. I have been plotting the top three: POF, OkCupid and Match (Zoosk is #4) and noticed recently that OkCupid #2 is gaining on POF #1

This also doesn’t account for mobile or other platforms like facebook – where I think Zoosk is #1
