MARKETWATCH – May 16 - MillionaireMatch.com recently surpassed 2M users. The site launched a digital billboard in Times Square to celebrate this milestone. The billboard says: “Join the 1%: Don’t get left behind.”
Q: How many members are actually millionaires?
A: That I would rather not disclose.
Q: Your billboard slogan suggests that the easiest way to become the 1% is to marry into it, right?
A: There are a lot of millionaire women on the site. A lot of them insist on a prenuptial agreement.
Q: Why do you think that is?
A: Women are a bit more interested in maintaining their independence.
Q: And there’s a section on the site to show off your toys?
A: Yes, I call it “digital peacocking.” The members get to show off their luxury goods.
Former Penthouse CEO Sells His Star Trek Mansion For $35M
FORBES – May 16 – Marc Bell's 27K-square-foot home with a home theater modeled after the bridge of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise has hit the market in Florida for $35M. Bell produced Jersey Boys on Broadway. Previously, he was the CEO of FriendFinder, the parent company of Penthouse.
SparkNetworks Q1, 2014 Results: Revenue Down 3%, Loss $2.9M
OPW – May 15 – Q1 '14 revenue was $16.6M, a decrease of 4% YOY. Net loss was $2.9M, same as in the year ago period. The number of paying subscribers also decreased 3% YOY. The company is now focusing on profitability, according to its CEO, Greg Liberman.
It’s Just Lunch To Face U.S. Class-action Lawsuit
REUTERS – May 15 – It’s Just Lunch International, a matchmaking service, will face a nationwide class-action lawsuit by clients who claimed they were defrauded into paying $1K+ for the services the company did not deliver. Tens of thousands of clients can now seek to collectively try to recoup fees and recover damages.

Match.com’s Updated Mobile App Was Inspired By Tinder
