Indian Matchmaking App Dil Mil Raises Funding From Saavn Founder
VCCIRCLE – Dec 17 – Dil Mil, a matchmaking app for South Asian expatriates, has raised an undisclosed amount in funding from one of the founders of US-based music streaming app Saavn. Dil Mil had previously raised ~$1M in seed funding from a group of angel investors including Will Bunker, founder of Match.com; Scott Banister, former PayPal board member; Naval Ravikant, founder of AngelList; Rich Nelson, former managing director for M&A at IAC.

Interesting Book: ‘Date-onomics’: How To Play The Numbers Game To Find Love
ABCNEWS – Dec 15 – A new book on dating explains why is it so difficult for young women to find the "right one". According to the book's author Jon Birger, it is not their fault. It's the demographics. Among college grads in their 20s, Birger says there are four women for every three men. He writes that women will have more luck in Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio. As a result of this imbalance, in the future we will see more of what he calls "mixed-collar marriages."

LAWYERSANDSETTLEMENTS – Dec 14 – Dating app Tinder is the focus of a consumer rights class-action lawsuit launched in California. Tinder is alleged to violate the consumer law known as the Dating Service Act. The Dating Service Act, which covers dating services and gym memberships, requires that these businesses afford consumers a "cooling-off period" after they sign up and put their money down. Tinder failed to allow users to cancel within a 3-day period.

Months later, public interest in the hack has faded – and so has the incentive for companies to beef up their security. Avid Life Media will likely bounce back.

Europe Is Considering Banning Social Media For Teenagers Under 16
CHIPCHICK – Dec 15 – A recent amendment to the EU-wide set of laws would require children 16 years and younger to get parental consent before signing up for accounts or downloading apps. The rules will be discussed tomorrow before going to multiple European parliament committees for a vote and, ultimately, seeking ratification in the European parliament next year.
