SPRING – July 8 – Research finds that women are more attracted to men when they are uncertain of his feelings. The test was conducted having women look at Facebook profiles, sometimes women were told the men had seen their profile and liked it, other times they were told the men rated them average, a third group did not know whether men had rated them average or highly. Women were more interested in the men who were interested in them, but the women were most interested in the men whose feelings they didn't know.

TECHCRUNCH – July 8 – The dating app focused exclusively on ladies who are into other ladies launched in 2013 in the UK, and back then it was known as "Dattch." Since, the app has rebranded to Her and launched across the United States, with total coverage reaching 55 different countries. Founder and CEO Robyn Exton explained that the app's recent expansion into South America and parts of Asia showed incredible growth. Given that many of these emerging markets are based on the Android operating system, Exton said that it didn't leave the company much of a choice.
Lloyd Miller Acquires Another 13,100 Shares Of Spark

FTC Eyed Other Online Dating Site’s Use Of Bots
LAW.COM – July 5 – In 2014, the FTC took its first enforcement action against an online dating service, the agency faulted the England-based JDI Dating Ltd. for using fake, computer-generated profiles that lured users into upgrading their accounts. Lawrence Walters of the Walters Law Group, represented JDI Dating in the FTC investigation and described their settlement as a "victory for the company" that he attributed to the company's cooperation with federal regulators.
Ashley Madison Parent Appoints New CEO
WALL STREET JOURNAL – July 5 – Avid Life Media said Tuesday that it had appointed a new chief executive, Rob Segal, and President, James Millership, to lead the company as it tries to recover from its widespread data breach last year. They both joined Avid Life Media in April. Mr. Segal previously founded Segal Communications, which was later acquired by advertising firm Interpublic Group of Cos., while Mr. Millership worked as CFO and COO of online gaming platform WorldGaming, bought last year by entertainment company Cineplex. "The company is truly sorry for how people's lives and relationships may have been affected by the criminal theft of personal information," Mr. Segal said.
