Penthouse Must Return Control Of Websites To FriendFinder
LAW360 – May 26 – A group of adult websites must be returned to FriendFinder Networks because they shouldn't have been included in the 2016 sale, a court ruled. The sale included ~1k sites, but 8 were mistakenly given to Penthouse. Penthouse argued that FriendFinder was not entitled to a return of the domains because its was FriendFinder's own actions that caused the sites to be transferred to Penthouse in May 2016. FriendFinder noticed that some of its revenues were dropping and its traffic was decreasing on some of the sites. It found that those sites were now redirecting to Penthouse.com.

Meet Didier Rappaport, Happn’s Founder
MANAGEMENT TODAY – May 24 – Happn is a location-based dating app that connects users to people whose paths they've recently crossed. Rappaport had a life and a career before the digital world. He started in his family textile business in France. His life changed in the early 90s, with the birth of the internet. "I told my business partner that we should move to the internet, he said no, so I asked how much do you want for my share and left." His first digital venture was an online textile market. Happn came in 2013. It makes its money by a mix of in-app purchases and ads, and currently has 30M, including 1.7M in the UK. Its biggest market is Brazil, but Rappaport puts high hopes on its recent launch in India, with plans to go to China in 2018.

An App That Checks Criminal Records Won’t Make Dating Safer
THE GUARDIAN – May 24 – Dating app Gatsby suggests users will be more secure thanks to its background checks. Currently, criminal record disclosure in England and Wales relies on self-reporting, and it's the genuinely contrite who would do it. Those without compunction obviously don't volunteer information. There's a risk people could use the app thinking they were safer than they are. The newest dating apps integrate a sense of community protection into tech. Take BeLinked, which verifies users through LinkedIn, or The Inner Circle, which builds in accountability via Facebook connections displayed on profiles, and holds events where users can meet a date in a safe, public venue.
