How Ashley Madison Matured After Two Years In Exile

Real Business spoke with Ashley Madison VP of communications, Paul Keable, to find out more exclusively. "I think we have been very quiet. Oscar Wilde said: 'The only thing worse being talked about is not being talked about.' It's been the hardest thing to face. We worked internally to get back to market," he detailed. He admitted that, while the business has grown natively, the hacking scandal did damage growth. With 110 staff at present, there are now ~20 vacancies available to fill as Ashley Madison ramps up its efforts once more.

Dating Apps Are Now Banning White Supremacists

Okcupid tweetMASHABLE – Aug 18 – In the wake of events in Charlottesville and the ongoing fallout, several dating app are banning hate speech and white supremacists. OkCupid has discovered that white supremacist Chris Cantwell was a user. They banned him for life. Bumble announced a new partnership with the Anti-Defamation League. They have donated to the organization and pledged themselves to "proactively remove and ban all forms of hate speech and symbols." As part of their effort, they're calling on users to report anything they find offensive.

The app is backed by Whitney Wolfe, co-founder of Tinder and now CEO of Bumble. Users can search for 'Mr. Right' or 'Mr. Right Now'. Each user is verified through Facebook and photos which do not feature the users face, will not make it through the apps strict vetting process. Since going live, Chappy has revealed that only 18% of the apps users currently facilitating the 'Mr. Right Now' setting, whilst 82% are looking for 'Mr Right'.

eHarmony Is Selling Elevated Careers

Elevatedcareers 2017MIAMI HERALD – Aug 17 – Boca-Raton startup Candidate.Guru, provider of a recruiting technology platform that matches job candidates to employers, has acquired Elevated Careers by eHarmony, an employee engagement, personality and skills matching solution. Terms of the deal were now disclosed, but eHarmony will become a shareholder in the company. Candidate.Guru, founded in 2014, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to help companies better vet and rank their candidates. Candidate.Guru will sell Elevated Careers as a separate product rather than incorporating it into Candidate.Guru's product, at least initially. Dan Erickson, general manager and VP of Elevated Careers, will join Candidate.Guru and be based in Los Angeles.

Entrepreneur, David Vermeulen, recognized the lack of features in many dating apps on the market. He launched The Inner Circle, an exclusive dating app that considers applicants based on their Facebook and LinkedIn profiles. The app uses a face-recognition algorithm to detect the highest quality photos from a user's Facebook profile. A major goal of The Inner Circle is to help bring back actual human interactions. Under the app's "discover section" users can click on events to see a list of upcoming events in their city.
