DAYTON DAILY NEWS – Aug 11 - Andrew Bowman, a Dayton resident and pilot in the U.S. Air Force Reserve Command, is working with other entrepreneurs to launch a new dating app called Venue. The app encourages single people to stop talking to other people online by setting them up at local restaurants and entertainment spots.

POF Is Revealed As The Most Dangerous Dating App In Britain
THE SUN – Aug 11 – A Sun Online investigation has probed crime data from police forces across the country. Among the most popular apps, POF accounted for 56% of all crimes reported. Tinder accounted for 26% of crime, Grindr 10% and Match.com 7%.
Cuddli – A New Dating App For Nerds
MASHABLE – Aug 10 – Cuddli is a new dating app for geeks. It's launching on iOS this week, though it's been available on Android since last year. Cuddli uses GPS matching. Users also have to respond to existing match requests before they can start matching with new people.

Snap Interactive Q2 Results – Revenue UP 43%
ACCESSWIRE – Aug 8 – Total Q2 revenue was $6.2M, a 43.3% YOY increase. Subscription revenues increased 48.3% as a result of the completion of the Paltalk merger. Net loss from operations was ~$1.5M.

Spark Networks Q2 Results – Revenue Down 27%
ACCESSWIRE – Aug 8 – In May, Spark Networks entered into an agreement with Affinitas GmbH ("EliteSingles"), which operates premium online dating platforms EliteSingles, eDarling and Attractive World to merge. The transaction will close in Q4 2017. Q2 revenue was $6.6M, down 27% YOY and 9% down from the previous quarter. The decrease was driven by a decrease in average paying subscribers, reflecting reduced direct marketing investment in the Jewish and Christian Networks. Total direct marketing expenses decreased 53%. Q2 net loss was $2.5M. The company has no outstanding debt.

An Inside Look At Chinese Tantan’s Success
TECHNODE – Aug 9 – China's top dating app Tantan announced on June that it has raised a $70M worth in a Series D, summing up its total accumulated fund to $120M. Tantan works through the location base service mechanism and matches users with a person that has been to the same place. On July 2015, Tantan's DAU was reportedly 250k, and today, Tantan's DAU reached ~6M. In the process of closing Series D investment, many investors wanted to join the round, and Tantan's financing round was oversubscribed by too much demand. To maintain the proportion of the founding team's shares, South Korea's renowned VC fund LB Investment sold some of their existing shares to two investors and achieved a partial exit.
Northsight Capital Enters Into A Definitive Agreement To Acquire Crush Mobile Apps
ACCESSWIRE – Aug 9 – Northsight Capital has signed a non-binding memorandum of terms to acquire Crush Mobile Apps, a company that has developed a group of dating sites with a presence in the Latino, Israeli and African American communities, and claims ~1M members. Approval of the transaction is subject to a variety of conditions, including NCAP raising $500k prior to closing, due diligence investigation by both parties, obtaining all necessary corporate approvals, and the negotiation and execution of definitive agreements.
