BLACK ENTERPRISE – May 5 – At Bumble's first Bumble Fund Summit in Napa, California, the company announced the winners of its in-app pitch competition through Bumble Bizz. The competition provided female entrepreneurs with the opportunity to pitch Serena Williams and Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd their businesses for possible investment from the Bumble Fund and Serena Ventures. There were ~1K applications. Both Serena Ventures and the Bumble Fund will invest between $50,000 and $100,000 per company, depending on the scale of business. They chose two companies to invest in: Erin Carpenter of Nude Barre, a company redefining "Nude" and offering hosiery and underwear in twelve shades; Arfa Rehman of Virtue Health, a digital health company for longevity with their first consumer health product, Eva, which is an AI-powered companion for women going through menopause.
