FINANCIAL REVIEW – Feb 16 – According to App Annie, Hinge is the fastest-growing dating app in the US, Britain, Canada and Australia. In 2020, full-year revenue was up threefold and total downloads were up 63% in 2019. Hinge launched in 2012, but in 2016, CEO Justin McLeod decided to ditch the old app and start again. "The reboot was one of the hardest, most challenging, gut-wrenching, horrible, things that I did," he says. The overhauled app came back with a new sell to its users: "Hinge, designed to be deleted." The company also began surveying users about whether or not they actually met up with matches, and if the date went well or not.
