The Lox Club: a Dating App for Picky Jews

Posted on May 13, 2021

Lox club logoCBS MIAMI – May 13 – Lox Club is a new dating app. Its creator calls it an "exclusive dating app for Jews with ridiculously high standards." The app was created by Austin Kevitch, a 29-year-old product designer who was going through his own dating issues. The Lox Club has real-life, modern-day matchmakers. Kevitch said what's also different about the Lox Club from other dating apps is its thorough membership vetting and the curating of the connections. He started it five months ago and membership is booming. "We have ~50K members on our waiting list." The annual membership fee for the Lox Club runs $96. It's $60 for six months.

Bumble’s CEO Says Pandemic Transformed Online Dating

Posted on May 12, 2021

Bumble whitney wolfe herd 2021 1WALL STREET JOURNAL – May 12 – Dating has been transformed during the Covid-19 pandemic as people world-wide embraced online connections more than ever, according to Whitney Wolfe Herd, CEO of Bumble. Instead of connecting, chatting and then meeting in person, many Bumble users in the past year decided to meet over video first before seeing each other in person, introducing a new step to online dating dynamics. Ms. Wolfe Herd said Bumble planned to introduce more features for users that enable them to fine-tune their preferences. She said while the pandemic had shifted many processes in business and consumer habits, the need for relationships is a constant. "We all need connection," she said. "This is something that is never going away."

Thursday Dating Won’t Launch This Thursday

Posted on May 11, 2021

Thursday logoMYLONDON – May 11 – A new dating app exclusive to London and New York decided to 'roast' themselves after failing to launch the app on the much anticipated date. Thursday Dating failed to launch the app due to 'an unexpected bug' so people will be kept waiting beyond the original date of Thursday May 13. Instead of profusely apologizing with a pitiful excuse, the company opted for a more self-deprecating ploy. "We know how long you all have been waiting for this app, and we have been wondering how to tell you this all day. An unexpected bug has been found in the app meaning this Thursday cannot be the first Thursday. We are so sorry."
