REUTERS – German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 Media is holding off on plans to list its dating division for the time being due to the current market environment and war in Ukraine. "We are totally prepared and I'm not ruling out anything for this year" when it comes to listing ParshipMeet Group, said CEO Rainer Beaujean. An IPO of ParshipMeet Group had been planned for the first half of 2022 and was intended as a way for U.S. co-owner General Atlantic to sell initial shares or step out entirely.

Why the VC Missed out on Gaming and Online Dating
DOT.LA – When Andrew Chen first began investing in LA startups as a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, he says there were two areas of opportunity that they left unexplored: online dating and video games. "We'd never invest in online dating, and we'd never invest in video games," Chen said at the Upfront Summit venture capital conference in Downtown L.A. "In the next couple years, if you'd invested in Tinder and Bumble, they would have been really good – but for a while those were considered unattractive." Chen said he's now spending "more than half my time" vetting gaming investments, in particular. "Our goal is to invest in what might be the next major social networks," Chen said.

Badoo: Younger Users Date Differently
DAILYMAIL.CO.UK – While a visit to a swanky restaurant or fancy cocktail bar may be the top choice for some singletons, Gen Z daters have a totally different idea when it comes to romance. According to Badoo, young people are snubbing typical dating spots for crafting classes, gym sessions or even 'dawn dates' – where singletons meet up for coffee or breakfast before starting work. Tina Wilson, who founded dating app Wingman, says Gen Z singletons are 'cutting to the chase', when it comes to meeting potential partners.

Apple Hit With Sixth Antitrust Fine Over Dutch Dating Apps Payments
TECH CRUNCH – Apple still hasn't complied with a Dutch antitrust order to allow local dating apps to have the option to use third party payment tech to sell digital content to their app users. The Dutch Authority for Consumers & Market (ACM) said it has levied a sixth fine (of €5M). Apple has been maintaining a public silence for weeks on this issue – including after the EU's head of digital strategy, EVP Margrethe Vestager, called out its behavior last week, accusing the company of a deliberate tactic of choosing to pay fines rather than comply with competition orders.
