Arrison, who is openly gay, starts his new job on October 19. Arison came to Grindr from e-commerce marketplace Shift Technologies where he was CEO and co-founder. Real World Dating Industry Conferences
OPW – Why should you go to a real-world dating industry conference? There's still a risk of picking up covid, and you're busy. I get it. Howver, after attending and speaking at over 50 iDate conferences around the world, over the years, I'm still as committed as ever to journeying out to see YOU. I would say the #1 reason is, it's just so nice to visit with peers, take in a beverage or three, and chillax with fellow dating industry peers. We get to know each other, find alliances, and get to learn and share and give our businesses an edge, over time. Nothing quite replaces in-person meetings. Sure, the LTR online conferences are nice. Those keep us going, but it's nice to see you in-person and have some face time a few times a year, IMHO.
Here's the next couple of in-person conferences to consider.
IDEA SUMMIT – The next CEO-focused gathering is in late November at the happn HQ in Paris, hosted by the CEO of happn and I, and will fill up by tomorrow, going to a wait-list.
GDI San Francisco – Our friends at GDI are hosting an industry-at-large gathering on Thu 20th October. $399 for 2 tix are available here.
Luxy Launches New Event “Blind Box Dating” Based on Voice Messages
OPENPR – Luxy launched a new platform "Planet Blind Box" on Oct 11th. Anyone can send messages that work like a drift bottle and a random person will receive the message. This person can reply to the messages and/ or receive further ones. At any time, people can send a new message. Luxy has chosen to use voice messages instead of texts and even forgoes images or videos which seems more appropriate for blind dating. In the first 24h, ~5k people have sent and received voice messages on the Planet Blind Box. The event is scheduled to run through mid-November. People can join via the Luxy app, or head to Luxy's Instagram page @onluxy. Luxy, which launched in 2014, has been dubbed as 'Tinder for Millionaires'.

OPW – Who remembers the iDate conferences? iDate ran from 2005 to 2020. We powered a weekly newsletter for 13 of those years for iDate. See those 686 weekly newsletters at OnlinePersonalsInsider.com. The very same team still runs OnlinePersonalsWatch.com (a.k.a. OPW.news).
At this stage, I think OPW is becoming quite an unusual resource for researching the dating industry, going back to 2004. See the hundreds of companies we've tracked since OPW started in 2004. When it comes to faithfully summarising the daily dating industry news, we've got you covered.
