THE SUN – ~323M people currently use one or more dating apps worldwide, according to Business of Apps. Statista reports that in the U.S. alone, that figure stands at ~53M people. Some praise the apps for their convenience, but there is clear evidence that dating apps affect our emotions – and not always for the better. Dating apps can leave users feeling low after using them, with increased feelings of stress, depression, and anxiety. Dating apps can provide a convenient and efficient way for people to meet, however, they can also lead to increased feelings of loneliness and isolation, as well as a distorted sense of self-worth and body image.
