Tawkify Acquires S’More
TECH CRUNCH – Matchmaking service provider Tawkify has acquired S'More, an "anti-superficial" dating app that had experimented with blurred profile photos and blurred video chats in an attempt to get people to get to know one another without the focus on physical appearance. With the acquisition, S'More is sunsetting its app, and founder Adam Cohen Aslatei will instead join the Tawkify team to lead the launch of its first-ever mobile product. Deal terms were not disclosed, but S'More had raised $3.2M in seed funding, according to Crunchbase. Set to launch in mid-2023, Tawkify's new app will offer users access to its matchmaking service, new relationship wellness services, as well as "multimedia features, sharable and exclusive content," said Cohen Aslatei. Iris Dating Is an AI Dating App That Predicsts Chemistry
THE SUN – A computer scientist has created a dating app that uses AI, which he claims knows him better than he knows himself. According to founder Igor Khalatian, Iris Dating can find a user's perfect match, but it might not be who you expect. The app was created to predict chemistry between two people and vastly increase the likelihood that swiping will actually lead somewhere. He came up with the project idea after realizing that "primary attraction" is necessary for a successful relationship. He asked users to rate stock images of people so the AI could determine what facial features they liked. The AI has paired people together who were so drawn to one another that issues of religion, race, and politics all fell away. After reading some scientific literature, he stumbled across a theory that people actually have predetermined ideas of what they find attractive which he deemed "primary attraction."
AI ChatGPT Steaming up Dating Apps
FORBES – ChatGPT sprung into the public consciousness in Nov when it was released by the AI research firm OpenAI. ChatGPT is considered a generative AI app because it takes some text from a user as input and then generates an output consisting of an essay. All you need to do is enter a prompt and the AI app will generate for you an essay that attempts to respond to your prompt. The composed text will seem like the human hand and mind wrote the essay. There are numerous concerns about generative AI. Humans can readily take credit for a generative AI-produced essay, despite not having composed it themselves. Here are my nine key approaches for applying generative AI to dating
- Creating a dating profile
- Critiquing existing dating profile
- Assessing dating prospects
- Choosing dating match
- Crafting opening lines
- Composing replies
- Dating advisement or coaching
- Ego booster

To date, the app has raised about a half-million dollars in funding and can count as investors Chris Kaufman, the co-founder of sneaker marketplace StockX, and Kevin Edwards, CEO of the Canadian food-delivery service SkipTheDishes.
Meet the Female Dating Business Founders Helping People Find Love
FORBES – Barbie Adler took her experience as a successful executive recruiter, helping executive talent find jobs at Fortune 500 companies, and applied the same methodology to launch the executive matchmaking firm Selective Search, which works with some of the top athletes, celebrities, and business executives across North America. Selective Search matched up ~4K couples, leading to 2K marriages and hundreds of families started. A third (34%) of clients met their match on the very first introduction, and Adler herself found love through her firm. Having grown up on a farm, sisters Lucy Reeves and Emma Royall were all too familiar with the challenges of meeting people in a rural setting. In 2006, they started Muddy Matches, a dating platform for people living in the country and looking for a like-minded match. Muddy Matches now has 330K active members and attracts 5K new monthly registrations.
