WORLD – Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of Bumble, suggests integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into dating apps for coaching and support. However, this innovation raises ethical questions, especially among Christians, regarding the use of technology in forming relationships. While some view AI matchmaking as efficient and helpful, others caution against its dehumanizing effects and potential to prioritize personal needs over genuine connection. As dating apps struggle financially, they increasingly turn to AI features to attract younger users, though concerns persist about the impact on authentic relationships. In April, the 2024 Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report found that 59% of current online daters are somewhat or very likely to use AI for dating coaching. 64% of current online daters are somewhat or very likely to use AI to write a pickup line or conversation starter for a dating app. The study reported that 61% are somewhat or very likely to use AI for their dating profile.

LinkedIn Is Becoming the New Unexpected Dating Platform
NEWSWEEK – LinkedIn is gaining attention as a potential dating app, with users reporting receiving messages from matchmakers and expressing surprise at the platform's evolving role. Despite LinkedIn's assertion that it's a professional network, some feel it's inevitable that it will be used for dating purposes. However, the blending of professional and personal interactions isn't always welcome, with studies showing a high rate of unwelcome romantic advances, particularly toward women. Other unexpected platforms, like exercise app Strava and language-learning app Duolingo, are also being used for dating.

New Lesbian Dating App to Use Facial Recognition to Exclude Trans Women
DAILYMAIL.CO.UK – L'App, a new dating app for lesbians, is set to launch using sex-recognition technology to exclude trans women and ensure only biological females can sign up. It is the brainchild of feminist campaigner Jenny Watson, who says there are currently no dating apps which cater purely for women who want same-sex relationships. The software, which Ms Watson claims is 99% accurate, analyses features including bone structure, the shape and positioning of an individual's eyes, eyebrows and nose shape or size.

Pitch Deck Teardown: RAW Dating App’s $3M Angel Deck
TECH CRUNCH – The RAW Dating App aims to shake up the dating scheme by shedding the fake, TikTok-ified, heavily filtered photos and replacing them with a more genuine, unvarnished experience. The app targets young professionals and students, particularly women aged 21 to 27, who seek genuine interactions. The company claims to have raised $3M, though this remains unverified. According to Tech Crunch, the app's pitch deck has notable issues, such as presenting solutions before problems and lacking clear market data, go-to-market strategy, and business model. The competitive analysis is weak, and some slides are poorly defined or titled. Despite these flaws, the solution slide is clear and well-articulated, highlighting the app's approach to solving dating app problems, but the overall presentation needs significant improvement.

Bumble Now Has an ‘Intimacy Without Commitment’ Option
STORYPICK – Bumble has added another option under the 'What do you want from your Bumble date?' section – intimacy without commitment, essentially promoting casual hookups. While some appreciate the transparency, critics argue that dating apps' fast-paced nature undermines the effort required for meaningful human connections.
