Bumble Users Can Now Report Profiles That Use AI-generated Photos

Posted on July 10, 2024

Bumble reporting fake ai generated profilesTECH CRUNCH – Bumble has introduced a new reporting option that enables users to report profiles if they suspect someone could be using AI-generated photos and videos. Other reporting options include inappropriate content, underage users, scams and the use of someone else's photos, among others. AI-generated photos on dating apps are common, and are often used to scam or deceive others. The new reporting option follows Bumble's launch of an AI tool called "Deception Detector," which uses AI and human moderation to detect and remove fake profiles, spammers and scammers.

Tinder Wins Legal Battle Against Hoccer in Germany

Posted on July 9, 2024

TinderJUVE PATENT – Match Group, owner of Tinder, has successfully avoided a shutdown of its dating service in Germany after the Federal Court of Justice invalidated a key patent held by Hoccer, a Berlin-based company. Hoccer had sued Match Group for patent infringement, aiming to secure a licensing agreement for Tinder. Initially, Hoccer won an injunction in 2019, temporarily halting Tinder's operations in Germany. However, the Federal Court of Justice declared Hoccer's patent, which covered a system for transmitting data between communication devices, invalid. This ruling ended the legal dispute and allowed Tinder to continue operating in Germany. Hoccer, whose app focuses on encrypted data exchange, will not receive any licensing fees from Match Group and must withdraw its appeal.

Tinder Writes Its Own Romcoms for the Dating App Era

Posted on July 9, 2024

Tinder rom com adsADWEEK – Tinder's new ads reimagine classic romantic movie moments to show how modern love starts on dating apps. In one ad, a library scene with actors Lana Condor and Evan Mock plays out like a romcom but reveals the interaction actually happened on Tinder. The ads are part of Tinder's "It Starts With a Swipe" campaign, aimed at challenging unrealistic expectations of romance. The campaign highlights that real connections happen on Tinder, even if they start differently than in movies. These ads, inspired by real Tinder messages, will run globally and promote Tinder's singles events. Tinder's goal is to change its image from a hookup app to a platform for meaningful relationships.
