Ashley Madison Users Blast Objector To $11.2M Breach Deal
LAW360 – Oct 23 – Ashley Madison users suing the online dating site over a 2015 data breach urged a Missouri federal judge to grant final approval to $11.2M deal to end the dispute, arguing that the sole objector had "highly individualized" demands that could not be addressed in a class settlement. The objector, identified only as "Mr. O'Malley," had urged the court to reject the deal because he believed that Ashley Madison should pay more to him because his "personal and financial injury is still ongoing and will continue right up until he dies," and that the site was "rewarded" in the settlement by being allowed to continue to exist.

Ashley Madison Survey Reveals Why People Cheat
INDEPENDENT.CO.UK – Oct 13 – Ashley Madison, an extramarital affairs dating site, asked its users why they cheat. 27% of men admitted that they would approach a friend or co-worker if they were unhappy in their current setup. Similarly, 15% of women admitted that a co-worker would be their go-to for an affair while 17% said they fantasise about having a fling with their boss. The truth is, if your partner is going to have an affair, it's likely to be with someone they already know. While satisfying sex was the main motivator, others confessed that their illicit behaviour was an attempt to be happier in the marriage, rather than to damage it.

‘Sugar Daddy’ Dating Ads ‘Illegal’ In Norway
NEWSINENGLISH – Sep 11 – A rolling billboard urging students to "Date a sugar daddy" has been ruled illegal, and ordered to be removed from the streets of Oslo. Not only does the ad violate the country's marketing laws, it violates a city law against rolling billboards. The billboard sparked criticism because it seemed to encourage young female students to date wealthy businessmen in return for shopping, travel or money. Sigurd Vedal, the man behind the online dating site advertised (RichMeetBeautiful.com), claims that the ad did not violate sexual equality laws because it was directed at "both women and men."

REAL BUSINESS – Aug 18 – For the past two years, Ashley Madison has been laying low, trying to restore faith in the business. Real Business spoke with Ashley Madison VP of communications, Paul Keable, to find out more exclusively. "I think we have been very quiet. Oscar Wilde said: 'The only thing worse being talked about is not being talked about.' It's been the hardest thing to face. We worked internally to get back to market," he detailed. He admitted that, while the business has grown natively, the hacking scandal did damage growth. With 110 staff at present, there are now ~20 vacancies available to fill as Ashley Madison ramps up its efforts once more.
