Bumble Hid Drop in Paying Daters Before Offering, Investors Say

Posted on January 27, 2022

Bumble logo 2020BLOOMBERG LAW – Bumble misled investors about the loss of paying dating app users ahead of its Sep 2021 secondary public offering, a new suit alleges in federal court in New York. The company didn't disclose how its "previous favorable paying user growth trend had abruptly reversed" in the fiscal quarter leading up to the Sept. 10 offering. Bumble had lost tens of thousands of paying users during Q3 2021. Paying users had been more reluctant to sign up for the Bumble app during the quarter because of the recent price hike for paid services.

How Dating Apps Are Countering ‘FODA’ This Covid-19 Christmas

Posted on December 27, 2021

Dating generalFORBES – "With the vaccines and other changes in the pandemic, people want to get back out there and date," said Logan Ury, director of relationship science at Hinge, citing her research into 2021 dating trends. "But we also understood that more than half of singles have FODA." "FODA," Ury explained, "is fear of dating again." "People need love. People need connection," said Wolfe Herd in her CNBC interview. "That does not go away, irrespective of the changing landscape of this pandemic so our business remains largely unaffected during this new wave." Bumble adapted during the pandemic using video and voice. Hinge has adopted this tech, too, but not with a nod to its competition. Its team said they found inspiration in Clubhouse and added voice to users' profiles.

Bumble CEO Says the App Remains Unaffected by Omicron

Posted on December 15, 2021

Bumble Whitney Wolfe Herd 2021 2CNBC – Wolfe Herd said the dating app's business has remained "largely unaffected" despite increased worry around the omicron variant. "Demand does not change with different restrictions. People need love. People need connection," she said. Wolfe Herd said Bumble users lean on the dating app's features in different ways depending on the public-health situation around them. "We have opportunities on both sides of the coin," she said. If a user lives in an area where social activities are restricted, Wolfe Herd said that's where Bumble's "Night In" trivia game comes into play.

Dating Trends Experts Are Predicting for 2022

Posted on December 13, 2021

Dating apps12BUSTLE – It's been hard to separate the pandemic and dating over the last couple of years. However, some of the biggest dating apps have big predictions for 2022. "If 2020 was the year of reflection, 2021 has been a year of discovery and we expect to see that continue into the new year," said Naomi Walkland, Head of Bumble UK and Ireland.

Top UK Dating Trends
In 2022 Pre-first date video calls became the norm. The Inner Circle has said that this is one way that app users can work out if they have a connection with someone. Experts at Dating.com agreed, arguing that audio and video dating will redefine how we date in 2022, with 90% of users saying they plan on doing it in the new year. And Tinder said that video dates have been mentioned 52% more times in people's dating profiles. Being vaccinated (or not) will continue to play a big role in dating in 2022. While 2021 may have been the year of hardballing, 2022 is going to be the year where daters hold nothing back. OKCupid has identified a 17% increase in BDSM terms in users profiles and there's been a 125% increase in users saying they wanted children.
