Brits Value Sex And In-Laws

Posted on October 6, 2008

Eharmonylogo_2
REUTERS — Oct 6 — Being too tired for sex is less of a problem for
married
Britons than for U.S. or Australian couples, eHarmony has found.
eHarmony says married people in
Britain are also more satisfied with how they share household chores
and how much time they spend together. "Brits tend to be more
consensual," eHarmony CEO Gregory Waldorf told Reuters in an interview.
U.S. couples have
more arguments, get on each others’ nerves more and talk about divorce
more frequently, eHarmony found. FULL ARTICLE @ REUTERS

Take A Scientific Approach To Finding The Perfect Partner

Posted on October 6, 2008

Eharmonylogo PR NEWSWIRE — Oct 6 –  93% of Brits don't believe that a scientific formula can help them find love. Over half (56%) surveyed said that compatibility is key in a potential partner. eHarmony, unlike other dating sites where members post a picture and a short biography, before browsing the profiles of other users, uses an advanced web-based "Compatibility Matching System" to present users with compatible matches, based on key dimensions of their personality. The survey also revealed that out of those looking for a relationship, only 7% were looking for casual dating, with 30% looking for a lifelong partner, 29% seeking marriage and 19% wanting a long term partner.

Dating Sites Hang On Despite Increasing Competition

Posted on September 23, 2008

Idate_logo_2008 IDG SERVICE — Sep 23 — Owners and companies running dating Web sites are meeting Monday and Tuesday at the Internet Dating Conference in London to discuss challenges in their industry. The top dating sites in the U.K. for June were PlentyofFish, followed by Meetic, Match.com, Gaydar.co.uk and GirlsDateForFree, according to comScore. In North America, the top sites in June were PlentyofFish, Singlesnet, eHarmony, Match.com and Yahoo Personals. The number of page views for dating sites are falling, and people are spending less time but revenues are growing. The main revenue model is subscription. Other dating sites are offering premium services used by traditional matchmaking companies. A site in China, Zhenai, charges $200 a year for access to its online site and team of match matchers who work with singles over the phone. That's far less than fees charged by traditional matchmakers, which can cost $5,000 or more a year, said Mark Brooks, who runs a consultancy focusing on social networks and dating sites. FreeDating.co.uk is free, and makes money by showing ads. It's the same model used by PlentyofFish, a relatively simple site that debuted in 2003 and has surged to the top spot in the U.S. and U.K. markets. FULL ARTICLE @ PC WORLD

eHarmony Has “Significant” Acquisition Capability

Posted on September 10, 2008

Eharmonylogo
MERGER MARKET — Sep 9 — eHarmony is interested in buying online content
companies as it builds toward an initial public offering, CEO Gregory
Waldorf said. eHarmony has passed the minimum requirements to go
public, but it has no capital needs at present. eHarmony declined to
comment specifically on targets. Internet dating industry consultant
Mark Brooks said Mary.com could be an attractive target.
Waldorf said
eHarmony is "very profitable" and generated USD 200m in 2007. Asked
whether eHarmony might expand to allow male seeking male, or female
seeking female partners, Waldorf did not answer directly, saying the
content is for anybody who would find it useful. Brooks said it is
possible eHarmony fears a public reception would be tainted by its
association with social networking businesses, which have not been as
financially successful as some hoped.
Brooks said it may be waiting for
people to forget about Chemistry.com’s recent advertising campaign,
which invited homosexuals "rejected" by the eHarmony site to join its
service
.

Datran And eHarmony

Posted on August 13, 2008

Eharmonylogo
DM NEWS — Aug 11 — E-mail marketing has long been an important one-to-one
communication channel, but marketers’ perspective of the medium is changing as
brands begin to use it in new and innovative ways. eHarmony is using e-mail not
simply for customer acquisition, but also as a branding tool. The dating site
ran a test with Datran Media, its e-mail marketing partner, in which each
opt-in participant received three different e-mails over a period of six weeks.
Each e-mail contained strong calls to action, including opportunities to
register for free personality profiles and free matching. The study found that
the e-mails increased brand awareness by 37.7%. FULL ARTICLE @ DM NEWS
