Gleeden Reaches 4 Million Users in India as Extra-marital Dating Grows

BUSINESS TODAY – Gleeden, a dating platform designed for extra-marital relationships, has reached 4M users in India, making the country one of its fastest-growing markets. Launched in France in 2009, the app’s Indian user base is 65% male and 35% female, with women’s participation rising 148% over the past two years. Usage is concentrated in major cities such as Bengaluru (18%), Hyderabad (17%), Delhi (11%), Mumbai (9%), and Pune (7%), though growth is also expanding into smaller cities. The platform allows women to use the service for free, which the company says helps encourage participation.

40% of Married Indians Admit to ‘Digital Affairs’, Gleeden Finds

DECCAN CHRONICLE – According to new research by Gleeden, 40% of married Indians engage in “digital affairs”. While 65% view these as “harmless fun,” 72% of participants said they had no plans to leave their marriage. Men aged 30 – 45 and women aged 25 – 40 were the most active. Nearly half of users admitted to texting a digital partner daily, and 56% of women said they felt more “heard” online than in real life. Emotional neglect, boredom, and a lack of intimacy drive this behavior. Despite their own actions, 68% said they’d feel betrayed if their partner did the same.

New Survey by Dating App Gleeden Shows Married Indians Are Rethinking Monogamy

HER ZINDAGI – A 2024 survey by extramarital dating app Gleeden reveals that over half of married Indians are cheating or exploring non-monogamy, driven by emotional dissatisfaction, changing gender roles, and evolving expectations in urban India. Among respondents aged 25–35 in tier-one and tier-two cities, 50% believe monogamy is becoming irrelevant. The study found that 82% of female Gleeden users involved in affairs cited emotional neglect as a key reason, while 74% said they feel invisible or unheard in their marriages. Meanwhile, 48% believe it’s possible to love two people at once, and 46% think cheating doesn’t rule out love.

Gleeden Sees Rapid Growth in India

INVESTING.COM – Gleeden, a French extramarital dating app, has grown to 3M users in India, making up 25% of its global user base. Women now account for 40% of Indian users, reflecting shifting attitudes toward relationships and non-monogamy. The platform gained traction after India’s 2018 decriminalization of adultery and saw a surge during COVID-19. Bangalore has the highest number of users. Gleeden is now expanding its focus beyond extramarital dating to include non-monogamous relationships, with 67% of Indians expressing interest in trying them. The company aims to add another million users by the end of 2025.

The platform is most popular among users aged 30-50, with 40% of women actively using it for up to 45 minutes daily, especially late at night. Gleeden plans to expand further in India, aiming for 5M users by 2025.

"Gleeden has published its survey results in an Indian daily. It is nothing but an attempt to defame women of this country. It should be banned or must face appropriate legal action," the Sena MLC said.

Overall, the time spent on the website tripled since 2019. According to the website, Indians chat slightly longer than Europeans – on average 3.5 hours/day versus three hours (From March 2020 to Nov 2020).

Gleeden logo 2017THE TIMES OF INDIA – Aug 5 – Gleeden, an extramarital dating app, has found out that ~75% of its users are willing to meet their love interests if provided an opportunity. ~45.6% of users think that their shared intimacy won't affect their current relationship while 47% of them believe that they cannot share the same level of emotions with two different people. 37% of people commit infidelity because they want to try out something new or spice up their existing relationship. 36% of people commit infidelity because they are in love with someone else.
