Profile Verification Comes To Lovestruck.com
PR WEB – Jan 19 – Online dating site Lovestruck.com announced its new profile verification service, being offered for free to its UK, Hong Kong and Singapore members. The process will allow Lovestruck to cross-check a member’s profile against various public Social IDs, such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Members who successfully pass their verification will receive a "Verified" badge on their profile in addition to Social ID badges showing which networks have been used to verify their identity. Managing Director Brett Harding believes verification will lead to a "more open level of communication with potential matches" and thus provide more and better dates.
Data Matches Daters
MARKETING WEEK – Aug 17 - As the internet dating market continues to grow, dating sites are employing increasingly sophisticated data analysis techniques to find the perfect partner for their users. OKCupid believes there's no such thing as one algorithm that works for everybody, putting its emphasis instead on a set of predictive questions. Plentyoffish claims it was the first dating site to introduce behavioral matchmaking. Markus Frind, CEO of Plentyoffish, explains: “We look at what you say when you complete your profile but, more importantly, we also look at what you do on the site.”Sometimes the elements that people are not looking for in a date turn out to be their partners’ most endearing features. This is why Mysinglefriend puts the onus on users to find matches on the site themselves. Lovestruck has two types of algorithm. When users first join the site, they will be matched with potential partners using Lovestruck’s in-house algorithm based on interests, what they are looking for, age, location and so on. But when they start to use the site, that data is overridden by an IntroAnalytics matching algorithm which learns from the user’s behaviour.

Google Patents, AdMob And Geo-targeted Mobile Advertising
GOMO NEWS – May 6 – AdMob, probably the biggest mobile advertising network in the world, has announced a test run of geo-targeted advertising with a location-aware dating site in the UK Lovestruck.com. At the start of March Google had successfully nabbed a patent for the use of location information in mobile advertising. Google is currently attempting to buy AdMob lock, stock and barrel, and make it a wholly-owned subsidiary. The FTC feels that combining Google AdWords with AdMob would create a mobile advertising force so large it would damage competitiveness. This trial will cover every part of the Google patent. It will use the real-time location of the mobile owner to allow Lovestruck.com to target its ads at users based on where they are. The trial won’t be running across the entire AdMob network, only on iPhone and iPod Touch handsets in London. Mobile browsers and applications that host advertisements from AdMob in London will display banner ads that direct people towards Lovestruck.com.
