Most use it to just meet new friends.

Q: What are you focusing on now?
CW: To build a global network for meeting new people.

Q: Things weren't always doing this well though.
A: It's really in the past year that we've really taken off. A year ago we were signing up 100K per month. Now it's 40-50k users per day.

Q: What are you using the money you've raised for?
A: I don't want to take one market by market, I want to push everything as quick as possible. We need more engineers, iOS developers and back-end developers.

Q: A big focus now seems to be dating. Will that change?
A: Our lates survey found 80% were now using it for finding new friends, 20% for dating. It's a place people go to socialize. Will there be flirting? Yes. Will there be friendships made? Yes.

Q: What's are the goals for this year?
A: Keep pushing the product forward.

Q: Do you still expect to make money if you shift the focus away from dating?
A: Skout is free. We charge for extras such as seeing who checked you out. My bet is that it's still gonna work.

Brandon Wade Talks About ‘Sugar Daddy’ Dating

Posted on October 21, 2011

Seeking arrangement logoBUSINESS INSIDER – Oct 20 - According to Brandon Wade, CEO and founder of SeekingArrangement.com, all relationships are monetary exchanges in some respect. His website, a matchmaking service for "Sugar Daddies," makes those exchanges a little more transparent. Unlike most dating websites, where men outnumber women, the Sugar Babies on SeekingArrangement outnumber Sugar Daddies 10 to 1. The average age of a Sugar Baby is 25 and the average age of a Sugar Daddy is 36. There are also a handful of Sugar Mommies and Male Babies on the site, which just hit 1M members.

Clever: Dating Site with Different Approach

Posted on June 2, 2011

Clique logo BUSINESS INSIDER – June 1 - Clique is a new a dating site that launched at last month's New York Tech Meetup. Singles are encouraged to sign up per usual but the site doesn't work without unavailable friends signing up too. Those in relationships sign up as "wingmen" and match single friends up, just like they would at a party. The most engaged users on Clique are female matchmakers, not daters. Clique will not make users pay for accounts. Instead, the site will make money from broadening access to daters (users can pay to see friends of friends of friends) and from group deals that will help couples plan dates.

Online Dating Tips From VirtualDatingAssistants.com

Posted on April 12, 2011
Virtualdatingassistants logo BUSINESS INSIDER – Apr 12 - According to market research, 1 out of 6 marriages that are happening in the US right now originated online, and these days ~30% of couples meet on the internet. However the authors of “Freakonomics” discovered that 56% of men that create an online dating profile do not even get one single message while Jupiter Research found that 97% quit within 3 months. Scott Valdez, Founder of Virtual Dating Assistants (ViDA VirtualDatingAssistants.com) advises that informed decisions yield better results.
- It Usually Pays to Pay: ViDA found that each message they sent on a pay site  was two times as likely to result in a date as a free site.
– Photos - Avoid Flash: According to data analysis by OkCupid, flash adds 7 years to your age. Men, Smiles are Out of Style. Women, Smiles are In Style
– Messages: Focus on the most active users
– Tailor your approach to your audience:  While women of all ages respond well to humor, women in their early 30s and above responded well to longer, more thoughtful emails. Women in their 20s rejected these more serious emails.
– Profile Updates: Increase your visibility by keeping your content fresh
