Grindr’s Latest Updates

MASHABLE – Grindr has rolled out several major updates to improve user experience and safety. The new "Taken on Grindr" feature allows users to take photos directly in the app with an optional timestamp watermark to verify authenticity. "Right Now," a live feed for finding immediate meetups, has expanded to 15 major cities with plans for further growth. The "Profile Hide" option lets users become invisible to selected people without blocking them, offering more control over privacy. Additionally, Grindr launched a humorous "Cum Calculator" on its blog to promote sexual health awareness.

Bumble Expands Opening Moves Shortly After Launch

Bumble Opening moveMASHABLE – Since its launch in 2014, Bumble has been recognized as the dating app where only women can message first. However, with the rise of dating app fatigue and feedback from women about the pressure of initiating conversations, Bumble created a way for men to technically make the first move. Opening Moves, introduced in the spring, are prompts that only women can set for men to respond to. Today, Bumble expands this feature, allowing users to add up to three prompts for matches to choose from and even select a photo as an Opening Move.

Grindr Celebrates Pride With Cross-country ‘Grindr Rides America’ Bus Tour

Medical service Q Care Plus will provide information on HIV and STI prevention.

This initiative responds to growing concerns about dating scams and authenticity online, with 46% of women expressing anxiety over the genuineness of their matches. Deception Detector employs machine learning to assess profile authenticity, complementing human support efforts. This development comes as romance scams surged to $547M in losses in 2021.

Eharmony partnered with GLAAD to better serve LGBTQ datersMASHBALE – eharmony, in collaboration with LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD, has expanded its platform to better cater to LGBTQ daters. The dating site now offers an extended list of genders and the option to display or hide this information on user profiles. Following a 2020 redesign and inclusive ad campaigns, the platform saw a 31% increase in LGBTQ membership from 2022 to 2023. Alex Schmider from GLAAD and eharmony's COO, Gareth Mandel, both emphasized the platform's commitment to inclusion.
