Exclusive Dating App “The League” Is A Big Success In NYE

Posted on June 24, 2015

The league logoNY POST – June 23 - The League dating app came to New York last month. The app's founder Amanda Bradford has received 30K requests to join. Only 7K have been accepted so far. 37% of New York Leaguers have graduate degrees, 13% are CEOs or founders, and 56% have attended “highly selective” schools. Singles can be referred by current users, which bumps them to the top of the wait list and increases their chance of admittance. Women must be 22-36; men 24-40.

The League Asks Members To Sign A Contract Not To Use Other Dating Apps

Posted on May 26, 2015

Theleague exclusiveBUZZFEED – May 22 – The League, which promotes exclusivity and has been described as "Tinder for elitists," asks its top members to sign a contract where they have to promise not to use any other dating apps. Members who sign the contract, which appears to operate on the honor system, are promised benefits like seeing the highest-performing profiles first, getting the first shot at "new talent," and getting 10 VIP invites for people to cut the waitlist.

The League: The World’s Most Exclusive Dating App

Posted on February 26, 2015

The league menuBUSINESS INSIDER – Feb 26 - The League is a new dating app that uses its own algorithm to judge whether members are cool and ambitious enough to join. Right now it's in beta stage, so not everyone can get into it. Current members have all been carefully selected by creator Amanda Bradford's team using the code. It's predominantly populated by doctors, lawyers, and tech execs. What sets The League apart from its counterparts is its reliance on LinkedIn to determine user credentials. The League just raised $2.1M in funding. It's soon to expand to New York and there are plans to move to London too.

‘The League’ Dating App Is For Successful People

Posted on February 19, 2015

The league logoWSJ – Feb 19 – The League, which launched in January and has raised $2.1M is for people who are “too popular as it is,” according to its site. 30% of the app’s users have advanced degrees, and 18% are executives, VPs or founders, according to The League’s founder and CEO Amanda Bradford. The app has a long wait list. 80K people currently are waiting for admission. The League isn’t the only player trying to get a piece of the more than $2B that the online dating industry is worth in the U.S., estimates Mark Brooks, CEO of Courtland Brooks, a firm that helps dating companies with business development and media relations. Bradford claims The League’s market lies somewhere between those of staid Match or eHarmony, and Tinder. “The goal is to keep The League well-balanced, diverse and classy,” Bradford says.

Rise Of Niche Tinders

Posted on February 17, 2015

Rise-of-the-micro-tinderTECH CRUNCH – Feb 17 – Tinder-like app keep popping up. There is Hinge for yuppies, The League for elitists, Bumble for shy guys, The Catch for wordsmiths, Meld for black professionals, Willow for those who care about personality not looks, HeavenlySinful for those who want to get laid, etc. Right now, Tinder seems to be sticking with its one-app-fits-all approach with no plans on catering to niches. It’d be wise for IAC to at least explore the idea of building its own Micro-Tinders, adding some more segmentation into its main app. There are a lot of hot people to swipe right, but finding someone who is a good match can take plenty of train wreck dates. Better sorting preferences could connect people who are actually compatible.

The League Is the Recent “Elitist” Dating App

Posted on February 9, 2015

The league logoCBS NEWS – Feb 9 - The League is a new dating app that is free to sign up to, but unlike others, it's not so easy to join. It's only active in San Francisco and already has a wait list of 75K people. To join, prospective members have to apply, and share both their Facebook and LinkedIn profiles. A computer formula helps sort through applications, and then the team decides whether to approve people based on selective criteria including their education, job, interests and even photos. The League sends members just five prospects per day on the theory of quality over quantity. The app launched in November and already claims 5,500 members.

Dating App “The League” Protects Users’ Privacy

Posted on September 15, 2014

TheLeague screenshotsFORBES – Sep 14 – The League, a new dating app for people who are “kind of a big deal", has launched in private beta in San Francisco.
