SpaceX Engineer Launches Only, the Insta-Booking of Dating and Social Apps
PR NEWSWIRE – SpaceX mission manager Courtney Cline has launched Only, a new dating and social app that eliminates traditional messaging. Instead, users instantly request dates upon matching, integrating a calendar widget for efficient scheduling. Only focuses on creating intentional matches based on shared interests and location, and offers both 'Friendship' and 'Romance' options.
The Best IDEA Summit Yet – Evercore ISI and Courtland Brooks IDEA Summit (NYC – Sep 28th)
In the morning, investment bankers gave us an overview of the current investment environment and then we had 5 CEOs do individual presentations. After a half hour lunch, we heard from Gen Z's about their thoughts and advice on dating apps. Then we moved to a fascinating Q&A with the President and CFO of Match, Gary Swidler. The final two panels of the day were on the topics of future growth catalysts, and the International competitive landscape and challenges. These panels featured CEOs from ParshipMeet Group, Marc Schachtel and the CEO of happn, Karima ben Abdelmalek, along with the CFO of Grindr, Vanna Krantz.

Evercore ISI and Courtland Brooks IDEA Summit – NYC – Sep 28th
We had 30 dating industry leaders plus 30 investors (mainly hedge funds and private equity) in the room throughout the day, and for compliance reasons we were not able to take pictures of them, or the room, or Evercore ISI team members. We were however able to take some pictures of dating industry presenters who were presenting individually, along with our post event dinner which comprised about half of our dating contingent. Weaver Dating App Expands Nationwide Following Instagram Influencer Boost
TAMPA BAY INNO – Tampa's Weaver dating app, which matches users based on core values through a quiz, initially aimed for local growth. However, after an endorsement from an Instagram influencer, the app saw a surge in demand, prompting its expansion nationwide. While the move was risky due to the lack of concentrated users in every city, founder Mara Rudolph and CTO Matt Spaulding decided to adapt their strategy. Influencer promotions played a significant role in its growth. Currently, the app boasts over 1K users, with plans to continue its organic city-by-city expansion.
