NY TIMES — Dec 24 — Chemistry's new campaign is targeting eHarmony by criticizing that the site doesn't match same sex couples. Chemistry addressed this issue in the form of a $20 million campaign titled "Rejected by eHarmony" this past spring. The campaign has helped the site grow 80% and the number of gay and lesbian users have risen 200%. The budget for this next ad is planned to be increased from the last one. It has a low successful “first meeting rate” for its members; and to my best knowledge, the matching method used by Chemistry only reported early stage attraction between prospective mates and after the first meeting; in some persons attraction reduces its level OR worse even, morphs / metamorphoses to rejection. It seems that what is important in attracting people to one another may not be important in making couples happy!
Most probably Dr. Helen Fisher had discovered that:
* the high serotonin type (Builder) who is attracted to people like themselves and the high dopamine type (Explorer) who also is attracted to people like themselves, could be looking for a LONG term romantic relationship.
and
* the high estrogen Negotiator who is attracted to the high testosterone Director and vice versa, could be looking for a SHORT term romantic relationship.
