Cupid In Legal Fight For French Domain Name

Posted on November 19, 2012

Cupidoncom logoHERALD SCOTLAND – Nov 19 – Cupid has found itself embroiled in a €1M (£800K) legal dispute over the way it has romanced French customers. Cupid has been challenged by continental rival Cupidon over the Scottish company's use of the Cupidon.com domain name it bought 18 months ago for £175,000. The result of the case, which is being heard by the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris, is expected this week. Cupidon, the owner of the Cuipdon.fr, Cupidon.be and Cupidon.net websites, claims its trade mark has been infringed and that Cupid is trading unfairly. Cupidon is seeking €800K in damages over Cupid's use of the Cupidon.com name, €75K on the grounds of unfair competition and €75K for tardiness in responding to Cupidon's request that it stop using the domain as well as assorted costs and daily charges if Cupid does not comply.

OkCupid Experiment Proves Men Don’t Mind Dating Sociopaths

Posted on November 19, 2012

Okcupid profileCNET NEWS – Nov 18 – A woman's profile — full of obvious red flags — is put up on OkCupid. Within 6 hours, she received 39 messages from interested men and her profile was viewed more than 400 times. Do men just look at the pictures? You see, in their hearts men just don't care if their lady friend is erratic — even beyond the bounds of the law — as long as she's good-looking.

Adultery Is No Longer Just A Man’s Game

Posted on November 19, 2012

AdulteryNATIONAL POST – Nov 18 – Researchers widely agree that the rate of female infidelity is rising. “Women in our society have been held up as the moral paragons, so the increase in female infidelity causes us to consider whether infidelity is as immoral as we believe,” said David Ley, a New Mexico psychologist and author of Insatiable Wives: Women Who Stray and the Men Who Love Them, a recently released book that documents female infidelity. Since the 1990s, the number of women who reported ever having an affair has risen to 19% from 12%, compared with a stable 23% among men, according to a recent study by researchers at the Kinsey Institute. “Is this a good thing? It sure is. Women are claiming their right to feel fulfilled in relationships and sex, regardless of what society might expect of them.” With a job comes financial independence, and research shows that the more money people make, the more likely they are to cheat. In the Kinsey Institute study, 16% of impoverished or lower-income people said they had been unfaithful, compared with 24% among higher earners. As women’s economic independence rises, so does her propensity to take risks and seek out “the other man.”

Blind Dates And Matchmaking For Babies In China

Posted on November 15, 2012

Matchmaking for babies in chinaABC NEWS – Nov 15 – Parents in China are so worried about their children finding a spouse they often arrange blind dates or pressure their children to attend matchmaking events. But some parents are taking it to a new extreme. A baby matchmaking event was organized by BB Groupon, which sells baby care products. The matchmaker, Deng Peng, is the market manager of the website. "I'm very worried about my daughter being alone. We want to organize this event to offer a platform for babies to meet and play together. It is too early to talk about marriage, of course, but it would be a welcome miracle if they really got married one day," said Deng Peng. At the party, there were only 3 girls and 27 boys. The gender imbalance in China has soared since ultrasound technology became widely available in the 1980s and millions choose to abort baby girls in favor of having a son.
