TECH CRUNCH – May 30 – Grouper has been around since 2011. The service matches users with singles they may enjoy canoodling with, but asks that each party bring two of their friends for a group date. Grouper was founded by Michael Waxman. In his opinion, Grouper has a leg up on the competition because it facilitates real-life meeting, whereas traditional dating sites and social networks are more focused on letting you message and look at photos.

Love And Marriage In China
CNN – May 29 – It's called "Shanghai's 3rd Annual Love and Marriage Expo." But the atmosphere at this massive gathering for single Chinese men and women was decidedly unromantic. For some participants, this was the first time they had ever been on a date. Zhenai's founder and CEO is a Columbia University-educated former investment banker named Song Li. He says the one-child policy implemented by the Chinese government in 1979 has resulted in young adults having poor social skills — crucial in the dating game. Many Chinese approaching their late twenties, especially women, are under immense pressure to get married. The Love and Marriage Expo felt like a job fair. There were nearly as many parents as there were single men and women. Some parents stood at the bustling entrance to the convention holding up printed posters advertising the details of their single children.

Group Mixers With Martini App
Bang With Friends: Behind the Scenes With This Controversial App
GEEKWIRE – Colin Hodge and Omri Mor created Bang With Friends (BWF), an app designed to connect Facebook friends for casual hookups. Launched in January 2013, BWF quickly gained 1.1M users and facilitated 200K matches. The app's straightforward approach eliminates awkwardness, showing users their Facebook friends who are interested in casual sex. Despite its rapid success, BWF faced challenges, including removal from Apple's App Store and privacy concerns. The founders maintained anonymity initially to focus on the app's growth without distraction. Now rebranded as Down, the app continues to evolve and expand its features.
