US Hitwise Rankings Update: Zoosk #1 Dating Site
OPW – Mar 4 – We have just updated Experian Hitwise USA online dating rankings. POF took over the top spot in March 2009 and has remained there since – until today. Zoosk is now the top dating site in USA, according to Experian, with 15.78% of market share, followed by POF (13.51% of market share) and Match.com (9.63% of market share).
Revealr Matches Users With Their Voice
THE NEXT WEB – Mar 3 – Revealr is a new dating app that lets users introduce themselves verbally with a 20-second audio. This is revealed alongside a pixelated profile photo. Users can browse through profiles seeing only a forename, location, age and the audio clip. Once a mutual match is made, two people ‘like’ each other, both parties are revealed to each other and they are then free to chat.

CarrotDating.com’s Founder Was Inspired By His Mother
DIG MAGAZINE – Mar 3 – Launched in October 2013, CarrotDating.com is a site and an app for people who use bribery to score first dates. Brandon Wade, the site's founder, was inspired by his mother’s suggestion to finding true romance by gift-giving. Wade’s mother is of Chinese descent. In the Asian culture, gift-giving is a widely accepted practice. Wade is also the founder of SeekingArrangement.com, a sugar daddy dating site; SeekingMillionaire.com, a millionaire matchmaking website; and WhatsYourPrice.com, where singles bid for first dates.

Scruff Gay Dating App Goes Global
DAILY TROJAN – Mar 3 – Johnny Skandros is the founder of Scruff, a social network for gays. The app, available on iOS, Android and Windows, has 6M members from the US, Australia and Brazil. After being in the film industry for three years, Skandros teamed up with Eric Silverberg and started Scruff. Their team has now 30 people. Skandros is considering building a website version of Scruff. Scruff is also looking to hold more events in Europe.

Jiayuan Q4 Results, Revenue Up 20%
PR NEWSWIRE – Feb 27 – Q4 net revenues were RMB133.1M ($22M), a YOY increase of 20.4%. Operating income was $2.9M, a YOY increase of 40.2%. The number of average monthly active user accounts was 4.9M compared to 5.1M in Q4 2012. The number of average monthly paying user accounts was 1.4M, compared to 1.2M in Q4 2012.
Dattch, Lesbian Dating App, Launches In SF
TECH CRUNCH – Mar 1 – Aimed exclusively at lesbians, bisexual and/or bi-curious women, the Dattch dating app is now launching in SF. The app emphasises photos, and thus draws comparisons with Pinterest in user interface. Dattch does not emphasise proximity-based social networking. It incorporates Facebook Connect and makes a point of weeding out fake profiles created by straight men. Dattch targeted London and other UK cities initially. Australia is also on its roadmap. The mostly female team has closed a $160K Angel round.
