Tinder User Says Age Bias Suit Deserves Second Chance

Posted on January 11, 2018

Lawsuit1LAW360 – Jan 10 – A Tinder user asked a California appellate panel on Wednesday to revive a class action accusing Tinder of discriminating against people ages 30+ by charging them a higher price to use premium features. Allan Candelore accused Tinder of violating California's Unruh Civil Rights Act by treating customers differently based on their age. Tinder charges users age 30+ $19.99 a month for Tinder Plus, while younger users pay $9.99. Tinder's attorney argued that is because young people generally earn less, not to discriminate against an older population. Such a pricing differential has never been found to violate the Unruh Act, he said. The 55-minute arguments on Wednesday dove into where to draw the line for exemptions to the Unruh Act; comparisons between Tinder's pricing and senior citizen or child discounts.

Austin Dating App Dindr Will Set Up Dinner And Choose A Restaurant

Posted on January 11, 2018

Dindr logoEATER AUSTIN – Jan 10 – Dindr dating app encourages people to get off their phones and meet in person that night. The app is available for download right now and is scheduled to go live in Austin on Friday, Jan 26. Dindr co-founder and CEO Zachary Casler wanted to create an app to make dating manageable, actionable, and more respectful. "We want our community to spend less time on the screen, and more time face-to-face," Casler said. Users get access to matches in ten-minute rounds that occur three times a day at noon, 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. During the rounds, users swipe on different profiles, but only have access to one match at a time, which will expire if plans are not made for that day. Dindr provides conversation topics and three restaurant options halfway between the users' locations.

Twinder – Matchmaking Bot For Twitter

Posted on January 11, 2018

Twinder logoKONBINI – Jan 10 – Timi Ajiboye (of Bitkoin.Africa) and his team have come up with an idea to make social media connections easier. Twinder, a Twitter bot, was launched about a day ago, to match people with their Twitter crushes. Users need to follow the bot on Twitter, and if they like someone, send a DM to the bot with the handle of this person. If the crush in turn sends a DM with their handle, the bot will then let both know that they like each other. Users can only send one "shot" every 24h and their privacy is assured. It's only been 24 hours and Timi Ajiboye had this to say about the messages the bot had received so far: "A lot of the shots and DMs are not reciprocated."

Grab Momo Stock Before Others Wise-Up To Its Potential

Posted on January 11, 2018

Momo logoINVESTORPLACE – Jan 10 – Momo has morphed over the last couple years into a legitimate and much more diverse entertainment platform. Wall Street doesn't appear impressed or is at the very least, incredibly skeptical. Momo stock has gotten hammered in the aftermath of its last two earnings reports despite producing massive growth numbers and easily topping forecasts. It has been all downhill for Momo stock on the price chart lately despite a 12-month gain in shares of nearly 30%. Looking at the Momo stock chart, a weekly bearish flag is developing. It's the type of pattern worthy of striking technical fear into bulls and instilling confidence into bears. But if we can put on our contrarian headgear, it's typically when conditions look their worst – and I believe MOMO qualifies in this context, that the end is actually near in a good sort of way for bulls.

Eshq Is Like Bumble For Muslim Women

Posted on January 11, 2018

Eshq logoTHE LILY – Jan 11 – Eshq ("love" in Persian) is a new dating app aimed at young Muslim women. By allowing the woman to "make the first move," the app, which is currently in beta, hopes to remove the stigma of dating in the Muslim world. Its founder, Mariam Bahawdory (29), launched the app while she was in graduate school. She had no dating experience growing up in Raleigh, N.C. When it came time for her to "settle down," per her Afghan family's tradition, the options were limited. After a failed engagement at 25, she found online dating to be her only real prospect. Ishqr doesn't show users potential matches' face, mimicking the ritual of old-school blind dating. Users login through Facebook. From there, the app uses a matching algorithm that picks out similarities between profiles. Its drawing feature is that it only allows the woman to start the conversation after a match.
