LIVEMINT – Dec 25 – Tinder is seen urging its young users to enjoy the pre-adulthood phase in a new digital campaign titled ‘Adulting can Wait’ for India. Made by advertising agency J. Walter Thompson Delhi, the two-minute long campaign features a young woman navigating through a maze enjoying different activities and meeting diverse people. The maze is a metaphor for the life stage itself, as one navigates her way exploring the world and discovering oneself. Taru Kapoor, general manager Tinder India, believes that one’s experiences in her early 20’s serve as lessons in how to adult and eventually settle down.

Online Dating’s Side Effect
BUSINESS INSIDER – Dec 25 – Online dating has, one expert suggested, made it easier to leave unhappy relationships. According to Eli Finkel, a psychologist at Northwestern University and a professor at the Kellogg School of Management and the author of "The All-or-Nothing Marriage," there was a time when, if you wanted to meet someone else, you'd have to get dressed up and go to a bar. A few years ago, psychotherapist and relationship expert David Kavanagh was quoted saying something similar in The Independent: Infidelity is hardly new, but dating apps have made it easier for people who are unhappy in their relationships to find someone else.

Judge Swipes Right on Tinder App Patents
LAW.COM – Dec 20 – U.S. District Judge Alan Albright ruled Tinder's interface is eligible for patenting, moving Match Group's suit against rival Bumble one step forward. The judge turned away Bumble's claim that two patents owned by Match Group are ineligible for patenting under Section 101 of the Patent Act. Bumble had argued the patents are directed to the abstract concepts of matchmaking and picking cards out of a stack. He also turned away Bumble's motion to dismiss Match's trade secret claims, saying it was too early in the case to rule on them.
