Momo’s Q3 Results: Revenue Down 15%, Net Income Down 50%

Momo logo 2018PR NEWSWIRE – Dec 1 – Q3 net revenues decreased by 15.4% YOY to RMB3,767M ($555M). Net income attributable to Momo decreased ~50% to RMB457M ($67M). Monthly Active Users on Momo apps were 113.6M in September 2020, compared to 114.1M in September 2019. Total paying users of live video service and value-added service, including 4.1M paying users of Tantan, were 13M, compared to 13.4M last year's Q3, which included 4.5M paying users of Tantan. Live video service revenues were $350M, down 27% YOY.

Aisle Emerges as 2nd Most Downloaded Dating App in India

Unlike casual dating apps that rely on quick attraction swipes, Aisle is meant for meaningful connections and effective matchmaking. Able Joseph, Founder of Aisle, said dating apps have seen a surge during the lockdown. The app has recently launched Rooms feature, which allows users to host a virtual room and begin a conversation with any other interested user. Aisle claims ~3M users.

Video Dating Leads to Rise in Video Hookups With Strangers

Video dating1NEWSWEEK – Dec 1 – A new survey about sex and dating during the pandemic has revealed that people were interested in doing virtual dates after things go back to normal. The study was conducted in October 2020 by Basic Hard Seltzer who asked 2K unmarried millennials (average age 29) and Gen-Zers about their dating lives. Almost half of the folks who participated in the survey said that they have continued dating in-person since the pandemic started. Only 22% were focused on virtual dates alone, and 33% were doing both. According to the survey, of those who tried dating via video chat, 72% felt they got a good sense of chemistry online, and 63% of people would keep up virtual dating in a post-pandemic world.
