eHarmony And Tinder In The Matchmaking Space For Job Seekers

Posted on April 12, 2016

Job-search-300x300LA BUSINESS JOURNAL – Apr 11 – Both Tinder and eHarmony are moving into the HR industry. eHarmony launched Elevated Careers on April 1, a job site that uses algorithms to connect job candidates with companies by matching skills, personality, and company culture. Last month, Tinder acquired contact management app Humin, which could help CEO Sean Rad use Tinder's swipe feature for a networking app. Executives at online recruitment companies said eHarmony and Tinder might struggle to break into an industry crowded with competition. Dozens of online recruitment startups are launched each year, yet many of those companies are short-lived. Rad has talked for years of building a professional networking app. Tinder updated its app in November to allow users to include education and job info on their profiles. eHarmony has been working on Elevated Careers for about two and a half years. It is still working out pricing, but will likely charge companies $2,5K – $5K a year. The site is free for job seekers though premium features might be added later.

eHarmony Finally Launches Website For Jobseekers

Posted on April 1, 2016

Elevatedcareers mar 16SHRM – Mar 31 – Elevated Careers by eHarmony aims to create perfect match for employers. eHarmony's Elevated Careers aims to match candidates with immediate supervisors in three areas: areas: skills, culture and personality, said Dan Erickson, GM of Elevated Careers. For now, only one-on-one matching is available on the site. The company hopes to match new candidates with their potential colleagues, too. Eventually, everyone involved would need to take a 15-20 minute survey of 150 questions. Software company Burning Glass Technologies, which provides the HR sector with resume processing and predictive matching, is eHarmony's partner on skills assessment. But it will use its own algorithm to match people based on 16 facets of company culture and eight personality factors.

Tinder Is The Darling Of The Press

Posted on February 24, 2016

News coverage picOPW – Feb 23 – The press just loves Tinder. In our "Best And Worst Press Coverage" overview, Tinder was the absolute winner in 2015. The mobile dating app appeared in the news on a daily basis with mainly positive press hits (except when CEO Sean Rad was interviewed;).

Here is the list of dating sites/app with best press coverage:

  1. Tinder
  2. Match.com
  3. eHarmony
  4. Grindr
  5. POF
  6. OKCupid
  7. Happn
  8. Bumble
  9. The Grade
  10. Hinge

The worst press coverage:
On the other site, for AshleyMadison 2015 was an exceptionally horrendous year. The site was hacked, members data was leaked online, and lawsuits followed; without a doubt AshleyMadison was the company with the worst press coverage of all.

How eHarmony Stays Relevant In The Age Of Tinder And Match

Posted on February 16, 2016

Eharmony logo new may 13IBTIMES – Feb 14 – "We know how to do this one thing. If the world is not interested in this one thing. We will go out of business," Grant Langston, eHarmony's VP of brand marketing, said. That "one thing" was match people for serious relationships. When the founders pitched the idea back in 2000s, people would laugh. At that time, online dating was primarily for sex. But 16 years later, eHarmony is one of the leaders with ~11.9% of the $2.4B online dating industry (IBISWorld). "eHarmony is a relationships company. Match is a relationship company, but I think eHarmony picks up where Match leaves off,” said Mark Brooks, an online dating app consultant. With its over decade of experience, eHarmony is not a young player. And at 80 years old, its CEO Neil Clark Warren is far much older than other leaders in the field like Tinder's 29-year-old CEO, Sean Rad. But eHarmony is seen as still able to innovate. At this year's iDate, eHarmony was awarded the title of most innovative company. Next month, eHarmony launches Elevated Careers, a shot at matchmaking for the job market.

81-Year-Old eHarmony Founder On Gay Marriage And Tinder

Posted on February 13, 2016

Eharmony-neil-warren-780x439CNN.COM – Feb 12 – After 16 years in the business, Dr. Neil Clark Warren is still committed to helping people find love. Warren is the 81-year-old co-founder and current CEO of eHarmony. In 2005, the company was sued for discrimination of same-sex couples. To settle a lawsuit, eHarmony launched Compatible Partners, a site for gay and lesbian singles. 350K of its members fled eHarmony out of principle. The company originally started as a Christian dating site. "We didn't want to pretend to be experts on gay and lesbian couples," said Warren. "We're not anti-gay at all… It's a different match." "We've had quite a number of same-sex marriages," he said. Warren doesn't see dating apps as threats to his business. "We don't discourage people from Tinder," he said, adding that apps like Tinder are primarily used for dating and hooking up – not marriage.
