TECH CRUNCH – Sep 5 – Facebook's dating product is today launching to all in the U.S., promising to leverage the company's deep insight into people's personal data to deliver better matches than Tinder, Bumble, Match and others. With its U.S. arrival, Facebook Dating will now also allow users to integrate their Instagram posts in their dating profile and add their Instagram followers to their "Secret Crush" list, in addition to Facebook friends. For starters, the people users are shown on Facebook Dating will not include your Facebook Friends. Users can also opt to have Facebook Dating only show them people without common friends. Dating is an opt-in experience. Officially, Facebook says that match suggestions are based on "your preferences, interests, and other things you do on Facebook."

Facebook Dating to Allow Users to See if Their Friends Have a Crush on Them
VOGUE INDIA – July 9 – Following the launch of Facebook Dating in Colombia, Thailand, Argentina and Mexico, the app is slowly expanding to more countries including: Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil, Vietnam and the Philippines. It is also set to debut in the US in late 2019, and Australia shouldn't be too far behind either. The inbuilt app has eliminated the Tinder-style swipe right, swipe left mechanism and has a unique algorithm that matches users with potential love interests instead. One important feature of this algorithm is called "Secret Crush", where users can find out whether or not their real life friends might have a crush on them. Users can add up to nine friends on the list and Facebook notifies these friends that they have a secret admirer. The admirer won't be revealed unless there is a mutual secret crash.
Facebook Secret Crush Will Be Embarrassing Version of Tinder, Twitter Users Say
EASTON CALLER – June 2 – Social media users expressed their displeasure at Facebook's decision to launch Secret Crush, pointing out that a lot could go wrong. Those using Secret Crush will be able to select up to nine existing connections to express interest in. If two Facebook users appear on each other's Secret Crush list, it's a match. Facebook has insisted the feature won't result in unwanted attention. They said if your crush isn't on Facebook Dating, a crush will go undetected. If a person on a crush list opts into Facebook Dating, they will get a notification saying that someone has a crush on them.

Facebook Dating Now Available in Singapore
TODAY ONLINE – May 2 – Facebook dating feature has been available since last year in Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Thailand, and it was expanded this week to include 14 more countries in the South-east Asian and South American region. Besides Singapore, other countries are Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam. In South America, the feature will be made available to Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay. Once a user has signed up for a profile, he or she will see suggested matches on the Facebook Dating page, which will show other users who have opted to use the service. The suggested matches will show the profiles of people who are not from the user's list of "Friends" or "Friends of Friends". However, a user may choose to view the profiles of people from his or her "Friends of Friends" list. Once a user is interested in a match, he or she may send a text message to the other person. A user is allowed to send a message to another Facebook Dating user only once, but may continue the conversation if the other party responds.
