Badoo Launches New AI Tool That Detects Explicit Photos
DAILYMAIL.CO.UK – June 30 – Badoo has launched a new safety feature that uses AI to detect unsolicited nudes that get sent through the app. Badoo says its 'private detector' has a 98% accuracy rate when covering up intimate photos. The AI identifies potentially offending photos, automatically blurs them and gives users a warning that they could contain 'inappropriate content'. The feature was introduced to the 'feminist dating app' Bumble last year, which is owned by the same holding company as Badoo.
Say Allo: Smart Dating App Powered by AI

Tinder Is Launching Prompts – Q&A Cards
DAILYMAIL.CO.UK – May 28 – Tinder has launched a new feature, called Promts, that allows users add question-and-answer cards to their profile. Prompts show a range of questions on subjects including pets, favourite songs and past-times on a user's profile, with their answer typed below. These cards will then appear on the app after a potential suitor has swiped through all the profile pictures added. Questions available will be updated regularly.
Half of Bumble Users Are Seeking More Meaningful Relationships
DAILY MAIL – May 26 – According to Bumble's recent survey, more than half (55%) of UK online daters are seeking long-term relationships after the coronavirus lockdown is lifted. The UK lockdown period, which started on March 24 and is being gradually eased, has left people 'very lonely', Bumble said. 43% of users think they will spend more time chatting online and focus on getting to know each other before they meet in person. Only 29% of respondents plan to continue using video dating.

Tinder “Passport” Feature Is Now Free

The feature allows members to search by city or drop a pin anywhere on the map for free from now until April 30. Tinder's daily conversations have been up ~20% around the world – and the average length of the conversations is 25% longer.
OKCupid: “Now Is Not the Time to Go to a Bar”
DAILYMAIL.CO.UK – Mar 20 – Several dating apps have warned users not to meet their dates in person. Most are encouraging some form of virtual dating, either by phone or video chat. Coffee Meets Bagel has even suggested several creative virtual dates Just last week, an OKCupid survey found that 88% of users were still willing to go out on dates – though the situation has been changing rapidly. OKCupid tweeted a message on March 16. "We don't know who needs to hear this, but now is NOT the time to go out with your date to a bar. FaceTime, Skype, call, text, call, message on our app….all very romantic right now," they wrote. Hinge has had a similar message about staying home for its users. "Love in the time of Coronavirus is absolutely possible, and we're here to help you through it," they wrote on Twitter and Instagram.

Facebook Rolls out Major New Redesign to Small Number of Users

The overhaul was originally announced last April at Facebook's annual developer's conference in San Francisco, where the company explained some of the changes it that would be coming. The new update will also see the widespread release of Facebook Dating. The Dating feature will let users create a list of 'Secret Crushes,' and when two people match they'll be prompted to message each other, similar to any other dating app.
