Israeli Court Holds Dating Websites Liable

Posted on August 2, 2007

Cupid_israel_logo_2ILBS — Aug 1 — The Magistrates Court of Tel Aviv has found Internet portal and search engine Walla! and dating site Cupid liable for publishing personal data on a dating ad. The ad showed an anonymous figure looking for love using the yellow pages. The name, address, and phone number of a religious, married man, though, was associated with the figure. The court sided with the plaintiff, who argued that the implication damaged his reputation, and awarded him approximately $4,000.

Don’t Overdo A First Vacation With Your Mate

Posted on August 2, 2007

Falzone_paul_a MEDIA SYNDICATE — July 31 — When it comes to taking a first vacation with your date, less really is more. Paul A. Falzone, dating guru and CEO of The Right One, Together Dating, and eLove.com, suggests a 2-3 day mini-vacation over a more complicated, lengthy, and/or overseas one. He advocates planning the trip together, discussing budgets, and coming up with a daily game plan. And remembering the Trifecta rule of dating: Never talk about dogs, death, or dating.

The full article was originally published at Media Syndicate, but is no longer available.

Mark Brooks: Paul is one of a small number of genuine, time served matchmakers in the USA. He'll be talking at the Matchmakers Conference in September.

Posted on August 2, 2007

TIMES COLONIST — Aug 1 — Most people have heard of the notorious Nigerian email scam, but at least one person now has fallen for the Nigerian dating scam. A British Columbian man sent $2,000 to his Internet girlfriend so she could buy a plane ticket from Nigeria to Vancouver International Airport. The female, who never arrived on her non-existent flight, has not been heard from since.

The full article was originally published at Canada.com, but is no longer available.

Mark Brooks: The internet dating and social networking industries should work more closely together to share ideas and information on scambusting.
