BBC – Mar 26 – At en event organised by Pheromone Parties, men and women are huddled around a table full of plastic bags stuffed with t-shirts. They are taking out the shirts, pressing them to their noses and sniffing them. If someone then likes the smell of a shirt, they can have their photo taken holding the numbered bag. These are then projected onto a wall, and the shirt's owner is free to find the person holding up their number.
Match.com Organizes Events For Dog Lovers

The first event, Bark in the Park, will see dog-lovers meet in Battersea Park, London on April 5th. According to him, these are the questions first date couples agree on most. Some dating sites ask as many as 400 questions, and the answers are fed in to large data repositories. Match.com estimates that it has ~70 terabytes of data about its customers. Applying big data analytics is helping dating sites provide better matches for their customers. And more satisfied customers mean bigger profits. But people lie. Many users also supply inaccurate information about themselves unintentionally.
UK Lesbian Dating App “Dattch” Launches In US
THE GUARDIAN – Mar 23 – Dattch, the free UK-based lesbian dating app has just launched in the US. It faces competition from Brenda, which is like Grindr for lesbians. Based on the Pinterest model, where users upload pictures of things they like, Dattch allows users to create a kind of personality mood board, making profiles much more revealing. A new member has to verify her account by linking it up to her Facebook page.

RSVP Strikes Deal With Oasis Active
THE AUSTRALIAN – Mar 24 – Fairfax Media dating site RSVP has struck an alliance with the Ten Network-backed dating site Oasis Active. Fairfax will pay Ten $5M for 25% of the free-to-air broadcaster’s shareholding, which stands at 40%. The remainder is owned by private investors. The agreement values Oasis at ~$40m. The dating sites have come under pressure from a new wave of free mobile apps led by Tinder, which has already been adopted by 5% of the Australian population.
