People aren't downloading apps like it's 2008. They are spending 80% of their time on messaging platforms. Chatbots are essentially a new user interface which provides consumers the ability to communicate with brands the same way they communicate with friends and family. In the not so distant future, we will be able to communicate with a friendly Chatbot. In the past 6 months ~$100M dollars have been invested in Chatbots.

Tinder Goes Down With Thousands Claiming They Lost Their Matches
HUFFINGTON POST – Nov 15 – On Monday night, users began reporting that they were experiencing issues logging in to the dating app. Those who could eventually access their profile, were then unable to see any matches or messages. The outage happened globally. Users just needed to wait and eventually their matches will return.
Bumble Raises Over $28K For Planned Parenthood
HUFFINGTON POST – Oct 21 – On Thursday morning, the feminist-leaning dating app posted a picture to Instagram that read: "For every like this post gets, Bumble will donate a dollar to Planned Parenthood." The post received 28,747 likes by the time the campaign ended at 3pm on Thursday. "We feel Planned Parenthood is a natural extension of empowering women to take care of their bodies, giving them the right to accessible health care, as well as the ability to make the best choices for them," the Bumble spokesperson said.

Grindr Founder Responds To Claim That The App Is Killing Gay Bars
HUFFINGTON POST – Mar 14 – The belief that Grindr and other gay apps may be helping to destroy the gay bar scene is nothing new. However, in the eyes of Joel Simkhai, the opposite may actually be true. "Our users are still socializing in bars and clubs very well. And even if you're in these places and too shy to come up to someone, at the bar you can still use Grindr. The feedback we get is that Grindr is a very effective tool to drive."
Match Group IPO Raises Questions About Privacy
HUFFINGTON POST – Feb 23 – Despite its success, Match's IPO was not without controversy. Questions were raised by IAC's decision to include two educational companies (The Princeton Review and Tutor) along with the dating sites in the newly-formed Match Group. By mingling two educational companies that feature large student populations with dating sites, does Match intend for a student's personal information to be accessed by those dating sites? According to the policy user's information can be shared "with vendors and other third parties" – sites like Tinder and Match.com.

Students are forced to find alternative and unconventional methods of funding. Siren Dating App’s 2015 Year In Review
HUFFINGTON POST – Dec 31 – Siren, a female-friendly dating site that lets women be in control, launched in 2014. Durex approached Siren to partner in their campaign #Connect that went viral with ~37M views. Siren won Geekwire's App of the Year, beating out Starbucks and Alaska Airlines. The app was also named one of the Top 10 startups to watch in Seattle. In November, Siren started to serve the LGBTQ community, growing 150% in the last three months.
Siren Is Another Female-Friendly Dating App
HUFFINGTON POST – Dec 10 – Susie Lee launched Siren, a female-friendly dating app, two months ago. Siren allows women to control their own visibility. Users choose who gets to see their photos and when, exactly, they reveal them. After two months, the app gained 9,500 members, and the female-to-male ratio is 53:47 across all ages, according to Lee. There is no swiping, users get to know each other through a "Question of the Day" forum.

A: It is a location-based mobile dating app that caters to the variety of identities and preferences.
Q: How does Queery work?
A: Users customize their identities along four scales that represent various facets of human identity. They will only be matched with users in their area whose identities fall into their specified ranges.
Q: Why did you found Queery?
A: Most dating apps require people to identify as female or male, gay or straight. People who identify between these categories are either forced to choose or are excluded entirely.
Q: What has been the biggest challenge in founding Queery?
A: We are still trying to spread awareness and raise the funds. The biggest challenge is going to be reaching out to people outside of our immediate network of supporters.
