Canadian University Students Find Sugar Daddies Online
NATIONAL POST – Jan 17 – According to Statistics Canada, the average tuition fees for an undergraduate student in Alberta were $5,730 in 2015. Alexis German, a spokeswoman for Seeking Arrangement, noted the average monthly "allowance" agreed upon by clients is ~$2,700, not including gifts or other boons. German said the dating service, which has 631,678 registered users in Canada (of which 412,528 are female "sugar babies"), has been successful because it allows users to transparently and explicitly outline their expectations in advance, minimizing unexpected assumptions about the relationship in the future. About one-third of those users are post-secondary students, which German said is a reflection of the financial difficulty facing those attending colleges and universities.

Match Group Stock: 2016 In Review
THE MOTLEY FOOL – Jan 15 – In its first full year as a publicly traded company, Match Group surged past expectations, climbing 26%. A number of factors led to its standout performance, including Tinder's growth, strong operating leverage, and consistently beaten earnings estimates. As the chart shows, Match Group stock plummeted sharply to start the year. Its earnings report from February sent the stock down 20% in two days, even as the company beat earnings estimates. The market instead focused on revenue growth, which increased just 12% to $267.5M short of estimates of $272M. Adjusted net income fell 2% as well, causing some investors to question the company's business model. As the market bounced back, so did Match shares, and the company delivered better numbers in its next report as the stock spiked 16%. Revenue growth accelerated to 21%, and average paid member count jumped 36% to 5.1M. Adjusted net income also jumped 30%. The stock peaked in October at over $19 but then plunged on its Q3 earnings report, as investors thought earnings growth would slow in 2017 based on management comments about investments. The stock slipped 12% on the news.

Unlike Tinder, the app won't list the user's name or age on their profile – it will only be revealed once users match.
The Rise Of Chatbots
HUFFINGTON POST – Jan 11 – With the advent of the iphone we saw the rise of the app but now that smartphones have transformed our lives, the way we use them is changing. People aren't downloading apps like it's 2008. They are spending 80% of their time on messaging platforms. Chatbots are essentially a new user interface which provides consumers the ability to communicate with brands the same way they communicate with friends and family. In the not so distant future, we will be able to communicate with a friendly Chatbot. In the past 6 months ~$100M dollars have been invested in Chatbots.
