Dating Apps Turn to AI to Help Gen Z Users Improve Flirting and Conversation Skills

Posted on May 1, 2025
Bumble's 'Instant Match' feature

WIRED – Dating apps are introducing AI-driven tools to help users improve conversation skills and reduce awkward interactions. Tinder launched “The Game Game,” an AI voice simulator that places users in fictional scenarios and offers feedback to boost flirting confidence. Grindr is testing an AI “wingman” powered by Anthropic and AWS, designed to craft witty messages, highlight past connections, and summarize chats. Hinge released a connection guide with fill-in-the-blank templates to help Gen Z users navigate real-life interactions and overcome a fear of appearing “cringey.” Bumble introduced “Instant Match,” which lets users scan QR codes at events to match instantly and view shared interests, bypassing small talk.

Tinder Rolls out ID and Age Verification in France

Posted on April 7, 2025
Tinder app screens showing ID verification process

GLASS ALMANAC – Tinder will roll out identity and age verification in France by the end of summer, aiming to combat fake profiles and boost user trust. Already tested in the U.S., UK, and Mexico, the system asks users to upload an ID and a video selfie to confirm authenticity. Verified users receive a badge, signaling their profile and age are genuine. The move, also expanding to Germany, Spain, and Italy, uses facial recognition tech to spot fakes and block underage users. Feedback has been positive, with users welcoming the added safety and reduced risk of deception.

AI Is Changing Online Dating With Smarter Matches and Better Conversations

AI Is Changing Online Dating With Smarter Matches and Better Conversations

BBC – AI is being integrated into dating apps to help users craft bios, refine conversations, and suggest date ideas, with Match Group investing in AI-driven features to improve interactions. Despite concerns, over one in ten UK adults use online dating services, making it the most popular way to meet partners. While Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, and Grindr saw a drop in UK users between May 2023 and May 2024, dating apps continue to play a major role in modern relationships. AI tools aim to streamline the dating process, reduce awkward first interactions, and help users find compatible matches more efficiently. Meanwhile, a growing trend toward in-person dating events suggests that the future of dating will blend technology with real-world connections.
