Bumble Expands Into Career Networking With BumbleBizz

Posted on November 22, 2016

Bumble biz iconADAGE – Nov 22 – Dating app Bumble is introducing BumbleBizz, a feature that will match users with career peers and mentors. Users will upload career-related information about themselves, and the app will harness the data to find potential contacts. If two people swipe right, they can immediately begin communicating. Users will be able to switch between three profiles within Bumble – one designed for dating, one geared at making friends (BumbleBFF) and BumbleBizz. Like the dating section of the app, within BumbleBizz, women will have the power to take initiative. When a match occurs between male and female, the woman has 24 hours to start a conversation.

Tinder’s Competitors Are Banking On Its Sleazy Image

Posted on November 7, 2016

Tinder hateBUSINESS INSIDER – Nov 5 – When Tinder launched in 2012, every match felt like an adrenaline rush. But those matches are no longer quite as exciting. A 2016 study looked at the user reviews of 97 dating apps and analyzed how their quality scores have changed over the past year. Tinder experienced the largest YOY decline. In a 2016 survey by Consumers' Research, 13% of Tinder users reported relationships lasting longer than one month. Its photo-based interface probably contributed to its hookup image. Apps like Bumble, Hinge, Happn, Coffee Meets Bagel, Siren, Her are not heavily photo-based. Bumble has a similar interface as Tinder, but doesn't have the reputation of being a hookup app. That's because only women can message their matches first on Bumble. Men seem to like the app because women seem to take more initiative in starting a conversation. Siren, which launched in late 2015, abandons the swipe interface entirely. It features a daily question and a feed that displays users' answers.

Bumblebizz1OBSERVER – Oct 27 – After launching BumbleBFF, a friend finder for women, the company is moving into professional connections with BumbleBizz, to launch this holiday season. Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe would like Bumble to be Facebook for people you don't know. "It's like the hyper-local version of LinkedIn, but with really clear connections versus missed opportunities," she said adding that BumbleBizz will have in-person meet ups. Similar to Bumble and BumbleBFF, women will make the first move on BumbleBizz.

Britney Spears Involved In Legal Dispute Over Bumble Dating App

Posted on October 27, 2016

Bumble britneyNY DAILY NEWS – Oct 26 – Britney Spears is threatening to sue someone who posed as her rep to negotiate a huge deal to have Bumble fund her new music video, claiming that he went behind her back. Spears' lawyers claim Adam Kluger – who allegedly referred to himself as a rep for the singer – got Bumble to settle on a $800k deal that would place the company's name and branding all over Spears' next video. Despite the messy legal battle, Britney has worked out her own arrangement with Bumble, which will allow them to underwrite the video, but not show off any product placement.

Trending: Dating Apps Adjust For ‘Swipe Culture’

Posted on October 17, 2016

Hinge before and afterKNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL – Oct 17 – Apps like Tinder, Happn and Bumble have been known to be used more for hookups. This influenced Hinge to rebrand as the "relationship app," which launched last week. Now for a fee of $7 members have access to users who are looking for more than just a hookup. Hinge refers to the new app as "Instagram profiles for dating." The app encourages conversation. When the user opens the app, they see the people with whom they have already matched, making the experience about the existing connection, not the next one.

Bumble Will Let Users Get Verified

Posted on September 28, 2016

Bumble selfies featureTECH CRUNCH – Sep 22 – Bumble, the female-led dating app, is launching photo verification as a way to rid impersonators from the platform. Users will be assigned one of 100 different selfie poses. They then take a picture of themselves mimicking the pose. The picture will be reviewed by a Bumble team. While Verification won't be mandatory for all users, anyone who has had their profile reported as being potentially fake will have to verify within 7 days of being reported. If they don't verify in this time period their profile will be hidden and they will be temporarily denied access to seeing matches.

The three features are called Beeline (shows only users who swiped right), Rematch (keeps expired matches in users' queue) and Busybee (extends the 24-hour window so users can have another day to try to match with someone). Mark Brooks: Mobile dating apps will follow the same trajectory as Internet dating in its 1995-2005 genesis. I think we'll see a gradual shifting upwards of the mobile dating app paywalls. The mobile dating industry is getting to grips with its metrics now, and what it can afford for new member acquisition and expect for longer term ARPU. It will only get more expensive to acquire, so monetization will need to shift upwards as well.
