Why eHarmony Coupled Up With The Bachelorette

Posted on September 26, 2017

Eharmony screenshot 2017ADNEWS – Sep 21 – As 18 single suitors look to find love with Sophie Monk on The Bachelorette, eHarmony is becoming a sponsor of the Channel Ten show. The company's marketer Nicole McInnes says partnering with The Bachelorette differentiates the brand from its growing list of rivals, who she believes cheapen the process of finding love. "We are much more about long-term relationships, which relates to the themes of The Bachelorette and how genuine Sophie Monk is about finding the right person," McInnes says. The brand's sponsorship deal also includes integration, but McInnes remained tight-lipped on the role eHarmony will play through the season.

eHarmony Has Eyes For Direct Response On Social

Posted on September 18, 2017

Eharmony logo 2017DIGIDAY – Sep 18 – After years of resistance, eHarmony is ready to commit to social media. eHarmony is recruiting marketers to turn the medium, which it has previously used for brand building, into a direct-response channel. CEO, Grant Langston, plans to expand its marketing team. "We have all these [search, display, affiliate and social] functions, but we want to bring in fresh perspectives and try new tricks," added Langston. He was coy about what those "new tricks" could be but revealed the lifestyle articles it publishes on social networks such as Facebook are its "best-performing tool." eHarmony's most recent social media efforts have focused on brand building by using humor.

eHarmony Skills Coming To Amazon’s Alexa

Posted on September 7, 2017

Amazon alexaCBS NEWS – Sep 6 – Amazon is teaming up with eHarmony to enable a new skill for its "Alexa" artificial intelligence voice-activated speaker: matchmaker. "The eHarmony skill for Alexa advises singles on matches who are compatible and sent messages," said the dating app's CEO, Grant Langston. Once the app is open users can ask Alexa to read messages, look for matches, see who viewed their profiles and even display photos (the latter is only if they have the Echo Show, which includes a screen.)

Work Life Balance Q&A With eHarmony CEO, Grant Langston

Posted on September 2, 2017

Eharmony grant langston officialHUFFINGTON POST – Aug 29 –

Q: What does your day look like?
A: There is no typical day in my life. Some days I have 10 meetings, and each is about a completely different part of the business. My first activity every day is crafting my calendar. John Wooden said, "Make every day your masterpiece," and that is brilliant advice.

Q: What are your work life balance goals?
A: I'm a big believer in the stoic philosophy of only being focused on the things that you control. I can't control whether people use eHarmony, but I can drive our staff to make our apps work better, match better, and be easier to use. To be truly effective in my role, I need to spend time with my children. I have to exercise and stay physically strong. Stephen Covey called it "sharpening the saw". If you're going to work every day with a dull saw, you're not doing anyone any good.

Q: How has your work life balance changed throughout the years?
A: I can remember in my 20's being in the grip of a terrible depression. I went to see a psychologist. I told her that my real passion was making music, and I just wanted an undemanding day-job to make money for expenses. She said, "This is why you're depressed." She told me that I had plenty of mental and physical energy to work an engaging job in the daytime and play music at night. It completely changed my life.

Q: Do you have any tips for balancing career, kids, and the marriage?
A: People like to say, "Marriage takes work." I think that's crazy. Marriage takes attention. My best advice for work and family is simple…When I'm at work. I'm at work. I don't chat with my wife or friends at work. But when work is over…I'm not working!

Eharmony Has Introduced Its New Logo

Posted on September 1, 2017

Eharmony logo 2017DIGITALARTS – Aug 30 – Eharmony has fully transformed its self-described "frozen in time" logo, making it the most significant refresh for the brand in 17 years. Despite previous attempts to refresh the logo, nothing seemed to "feel right" until designer Shaily Savla was asked to redesign the company's logo along with a whole team. Eharmony has also dropped the capital 'H' placed after the 'e' that's defined the brand since the early 2000s.

Liberals And Conservatives Can’t Even Use The Same Dating Apps

Posted on August 29, 2017

Trumpsingles screenshot smallMARKETWATCH – Aug 28 – When David Goss, co-founder of TrumpSingles.com, first started his dating site for supporters of President Donald Trump, he didn't know how far it would go. But a year later, the country is more divided than ever, and the app is thriving. It has gained ~52k members since Trump has been in office. In February 2017, OkCupid added Trump-related questions to its compatibility survey and found 72% of people thought supporting the president was a deal breaker in relationships. eHarmony has seen the number of users willing to date people of other political stripes shrink dramatically in recent months.

eHarmony Is Selling Elevated Careers

Posted on August 17, 2017

Elevatedcareers 2017MIAMI HERALD – Aug 17 – Boca-Raton startup Candidate.Guru, provider of a recruiting technology platform that matches job candidates to employers, has acquired Elevated Careers by eHarmony, an employee engagement, personality and skills matching solution. Terms of the deal were now disclosed, but eHarmony will become a shareholder in the company. Candidate.Guru, founded in 2014, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to help companies better vet and rank their candidates. Candidate.Guru will sell Elevated Careers as a separate product rather than incorporating it into Candidate.Guru's product, at least initially. More Dating Apps Are Hosting Real Life Events

Posted on August 4, 2017

Bumble Hive NYCHERALD SUN – Aug 3 – Bumble has a space in SoHo in New York called the Bumble Hive. It offered all kinds of events – many unrelated to dating. Meanwhile, in Sydney, the dating app is also holding events. Happn has hosted an event in a cafe in Paris. The app was inspired by the fact a common first date is coffee. Meanwhile eHarmony has an event at the end of the month called eHarmony Live, aimed at singles who may or may not use the app, to meet each other offline.

Dating For Money May Actually Work

Posted on July 25, 2017

Dating for moneyHUFFINGTON POST – July 25 – It is said money doesn't buy happiness, but it does result in experiencing happiness. Economists from Case Western University were able to prove that increased household earnings caused improved emotional well-being. 75% of women in a ForbesWoman survey said they would turn down a marriage proposal from a man who is unemployed. Neil Clark Warren, founder of eHarmony.com famously proclaimed, "A couple needs to be within one standard deviation of each other in intelligence (10 points in either direction)". Intelligence strongly correlates with income, which is certainly a key underlying component of dating service The League.
