Advertising On Happn: From NGOs To Brand Romance

Posted on April 5, 2016

Happn adMARKETING MAGAZINE – Apr 4 – The France-based app is making a name for itself among NGOs looking to promote good causes, including Equality Now, Plan UK and the Art Fund, as well as brands, like Fiat. Happn's USP is that it focuses on urban centres and is all about meeting people users have "crossed paths with" in real life, encouraging continuous daily use rather than selective visits. The app has been adding 1.2m users a month but is currently still fairly ad-free even though this year, after a long period of testing, it has ramped up its efforts to boost advertising.

Here is the list of dating sites/app with best press coverage:

  1. Tinder
  2. Match.com
  3. eHarmony
  4. Grindr
  5. POF
  6. OKCupid
  7. Happn
  8. Bumble

The worst press coverage:
On the other site, for AshleyMadison 2015 was an exceptionally horrendous year. The site was hacked, members data was leaked online, and lawsuits followed; without a doubt AshleyMadison was the company with the worst press coverage of all.

Dating apps on mobileCNBC – Feb 19 – According to Jacqueline Gold, CEO of Ann Summers, dating apps are a fantastic way for brands to engage with their audience. Businesses are beginning to see the potential of dating services. Several are being used to advertise fashion and luxury brands, such as JW Anderson, which launched a collection using Grindr in January. Gold doesn't think the presence of ads will put off users, as long as they don't harm the user experience. Dating app are becoming indispensable to users.
