Posted on November 22, 2016

Gooddeeddating uk logoDAILYMAIL.CO.UK – Nov 21 – GoodDeedDating.co.uk, launched earlier this year, is the genius idea of Hannah Whitehead (a former charity worker). Rather than being paired off with someone for awkward drinks or dinner, Good Deed daters sign up for a two-hour 'good deed' volunteering session, attended by other singles. It could be planting trees, helping direct people on at a charity run, or working for the Red Cross.

Tinder Being Used By Children As Young As 13

Posted on April 12, 2016

Tinder teenage usersDAILYMAIL AUSTRALIA – Apr 11 – Children as young as 13 are using Tinder to brag about how many matches they can get, according to a cyber safety expert Susan McLean. This is not good for a young girl's self-esteem. The other issue is geolocation. Susan McLean said Tinder is dangerous for teenagers given there is no way of verifying the age of the person they are talking to. Legally the children can be on Tinder but it's about educating them to make good decisions', she said. Parents need to have conversations with them about why this is not a good idea.

Match.com Co-founder Reveals His Inspiration To Start A Dating Site

Posted on November 23, 2015

Matchcom-In_the_beginning_This_is_a_screen_grab_of_the_first_incarnationDAILYMAIL.CO.UK – Nov 20 – Today, 59M people are active subscribers to Match.com or one of its subsidiaries, including Tinder, OkCupid, and POF. Match.com started in 1993, when 30-year-old Stanford graduate Gary Kremen was looking for a date. Starting from scratch, he interviewed ~100 women to find out if they would use an online database – and if not, why not. 'There was definitely much more conservatism around this back then," he said. Fran Maier was tasked to create a female-friendly environment. She tweaked the questions they wanted to ask women, and she worked with a dating expert to design safety guidelines. Later, she would devise the idea of a paid membership. With ~$1.7M angel investment, Match.com launched in April 1995. By Dec 1996, they had ~100K users. Kremen stepped down as CEO in 1996 amid a dispute with investors over his leadership style and his desire to cater for LGBT users.
