Aisle report titled 'The Commitment Decade' featuring a pink background with white and black text.

BUSINESS NEWS THIS WEEK – Aisle’s 2025 study, The Commitment Decade, surveyed 3,400 urban Indian singles and found that commitment has made a strong comeback. 97% of women and 80% of men now prioritize serious relationships over casual dating, with 1 in 3 women planning to marry within a year of dating. Mental health has become central to relationships. 67% of Gen Z women would end a relationship over mental health issues, and a third of all respondents have done so. Equality is rising, as 53% of women prefer splitting the bill on dates. In matchmaking, most Indians want AI to assist, not replace humans, with 69% of Gen Z women rejecting AI-only matching. Compatibility now outweighs astrology, though 30% of millennial women still consider it.

AI Takes Over Key Features on Dating Apps in India, but Trust Issues Remain

Posted on May 30, 2025

Online dating & AINDTV – AI is becoming increasingly integrated into dating apps in India, with platforms like Bumble, Tinder, Hinge, Happn, and Aisle using it for profile optimization, match suggestions, fraud detection, and user safety. Match Group added AI tools in March 2025 to assist with photos, bios, and match selection. Bumble uses AI for fake profile detection and conversation starters, while Hinge and Tinder rely on AI to personalize user experiences. Challenges include data privacy concerns, algorithmic bias, deepfake scams, and lack of emotional intelligence. While Indians use AI for relationship advice and self-reflection, most still prefer human input for matchmaking.

Aisle's #FindAnkit Campaign

SOCIAL SAMOSA – Aisle’s #FindAnkit campaign was a viral marketing stunt that turned a common dating app regret – accidentally skipping a profile – into an engaging social media movement. It started when a woman mistakenly swiped past a profile she thought was a perfect match. Aisle turned this into a fun, city-wide search for “Ankit,” a fictional 5’11” techie from Bengaluru who loves chai. The campaign reached 8.8M people and gained 9.8M views.

The Future of Matrimonial Sites in India

Posted on March 7, 2023

Matrimony Murugavel JanakiramanMEDIANEWS4U – Matrimony.com's founder and CMD, Murugavel Janakiraman, is reflecting on the future of his company in light of recent reports that Match Group is considering investing in Shaadi.com, an Indian matrimony site, and InfoEdge's acquisition of the dating site Aisle through JeevanSaathi.com. Janakiraman notes that while dating sites have been around in India for about a decade, they haven't generated the expected revenues and have realized that matrimony sites are where the money is. He also observes that women are increasingly taking the decision to marry into their own hands and that the younger generation wants equality in marriages. Janakiraman believes that communication and design are the keys to successful marriages and plans to host webinars for couples to educate them on this. The company is committed to serving its audience and building a long-lasting organization that can evolve beyond the founder's involvement. Matrimony.com also has a growing wedding services business, including Wedding Bazaar and Mandap.com, and recently launched RainbowLuv for the LGBTQIA+ community.
