Tinder vs Bumble in India

Posted on February 21, 2019

Tinder vs bumbleECONOMIC TIMES – Feb 19 – Bumble's aggressive entry into India has made existing players raise their game. Tinder CEO Elie Seidman denies any impact on the market leader. However, Bumble's overall idea of a "social network by women for everyone" has created tremors in the Indian dating app space, where apps, including Tinder, are struggling to get and retain women users. Tinder has a clear advantage, though, being the first mover. In India since 2014, it is the second-best grossing app on Android in India. Bumble has made it to the list of the top 50 highest-grossing apps on Android in India. "Our biggest competitors are actually the moms and friends who help you find a suitable match," insists Elie Seidman.

Bumble’s VP of International Marketing on Valentine’s Day

Posted on February 14, 2019

Bumble louise troenSTANDARD.CO.UK – Feb 14 – It's Valentine's Day and Bumble's VP of international marketing, Louise Troen, is discussing her plans. "We're holding the first global party we've ever done, called The Domino Effect," Troen said. The Domino Effect means two things to Bumble – the second-biggest dating app in the world in terms of global consumer spend, and it literally explains how the global party will work. Set to begin in Auckland, New Zealand at 8pm on February 14, it will then hit all Bumble's major markets, Australia, India, Europe and then finishing in the US. Campaigns like Bumble's Domino Effect for Valentine' Day are Troen's bread and butter. She joined the company two and a half years ago as director of international marketing, and was promoted to VP last year, essentially as founder Whitney Wolfe-Herd's second in command. Bumble Bizz is one of Troen's other big tasks for the year: getting people to see Bumble less as a dating app and more as its own social network. Another instance of how Bumble is moving away from dating to become all things to women, is through its new podcast. Set to launch in March, and named Bumble presents: Unsubscribe, Troen is co-presenting alongside Jada Sezer, a plus-sized model and activist.

Bumble Launches Spotlight, Its Own Version of Tinder’s Boost

Posted on February 12, 2019

Bumble spotlightTECH CRUNCH – Feb 11 – Bumble is launching its own version of Tinder's "Boost" feature – "Spotlight". It allows users to pay to bump their profile up to the front of the queue, in order to be seen by more people than they would otherwise. To use Spotlight, Bumble users must pay 2 Coins (bought through a separate in-app purchase). 1 coin is $0.99 in the U.S., or £1.99 in the U.K. Spotlight will then show their profile to more users for the next 30 minutes.

How Bumble Events Went From Dates to Deal Making

Posted on January 29, 2019

Bumble bizz picBIZBASH – Jan 29 – Bumble launched as a dating app, but is now one app with three modes (Bumble Date, Bumble BFF, and Bumble Bizz), which are united by a mission to empower women, end misogyny, and hold people accountable for their actions online. Currently, the app boasts 40M users worldwide. Bumble owner Rimberg International Corp., a holding company that also controls the dating apps Chappy and Badoo, is considering an IPO on the Nasdaq based on the growth potential of the app. Bumble events, which are typically free to users on a first-come, first-serve basis, are tailored to a specific segment. For its business-focused users, Bumble organizes Bumble Bizz panels that feature female leaders across various industries who share their success stories, learnings, and entrepreneurial journeys. Recently, Bumble organized a "Work Party" for freelancers and a "Make the First Move" cocktail party. Bumble also holds a monthly dinner series called Bumble Gives Back, which is designed for single users to come together in real life in support of a cause. In 2018 in LA, Bumble debuted its Hive concept, a pop-up space that works as an extension of Bumble headquarters. Inside, visitors enjoyed complimentary entertainment, drinks and snacks, and interactive sessions with entrepreneurs and influencers.
